Bear in mind that it is 70" long when unfolded. **Q: Can this be used outside the pool? My dog has trouble getting up the ladder into the pool, would this work the other way around to help him get in?** A: So the pool legs themselves are approximately 24" long, so the end of the ramp would be 24" off of the ground on the outside of the pool. If you can get your dog up to the ramp - two feet - either with steps or by lifting, it would absolutely allow him or her to use the ramp from the outside of the pool to get into the pool. My only concern is that it doesn't sound like you've got a deck around the pool. Without a deck your pup wouldn't have anywhere to stand once they've reached the top of the ramp. We love it and it’s amazing. We love how sturdy it is and how easy it was to step up. Now my only issue, and it maybe as a result from human error but we keep this item in our pool 24/7 as we don’t want our pup to have an accident outside. And the only issue is that the paint/ outside coating started to flake and raise up off the board itself.
