The bonding surfaces need to be roughed up (not smooth) with 30 or 40 grit sand paper. Put a thin layer of JB Kwik on each surface , then clamp the surfaces together and allow 24 hours to cure (JB Kwick will "set up" in about 5 minutes, but a "full cure" requires a longer time. If you require a stronger bond (for heavy items) I suggest drilling through the materials and using stainless bolts and nuts to fasten them together in addition to the JB Weld. **Q: I'm gluing metal to metal, Is this as good as the 3M body epoxy which requires 24 hours to fully cure?** A: JB Kwick Epoxy sets up in about five minutes, but takes a good 4-6 hours to fully cure I give it longer. As for bonding metal to metal - make sure the surfaces are clean and dry (residue free - clean surfaces with lacquer thinner or Acetone). Sand surfaces to be bonded with at least 180 grit sand paper (or cloth backed 180 grit) and clean off sanding residue after. Spread JB Kwick in thin layer on each surface then press and clamp the surfaces together until fully bonded. If bonding a large surface area I recommend using regular JB Weld epoxy as it has a longer set up and cure time. Five minutes can go by very quickly and the JB Kwick will start to get too tacky after about 3 minutes and will be difficult to spread, so you have to work quickly.
