She could easily put the clips between the rubber float and the outside plastic. There is none in this product. If you have it in a lower container or pond, you might find yourself pulling it out and rinsing grass clippings or leaf bits from the removable sponge and inlet areas more than you would if it sat higher. Birds love it.
