Review: Great replacement - I was so sad to part with my 40 year old Sony digicube and was pleasantly surprised that it was still being made. The new model is very neat, double brightness and seems to get good reception. Only criticism is that the volume control is not particularly easy to use and the buttons are in slightly strange places. You have to press the alarm reset to turn the radio off rather than depressing the radio button again. But its a great replacement. Review: perfect alarm clock - I like it! I had the earlier version of this for about 25 years (which was a little bit bigger and heavier) until it finally bit the dust, so I was pleased to see Sony had produced a newer version and with extra functions. Open the box, plug it in and it finds the right time for you. Display is bright orange and easy to read. The instructions to set the alarm and radio are easy to follow and understand too. As I am now a pensioner and not working I haven't as yet had reason to use the alarm function but it appears to be working fine and true to sony standards the radio is remarkably clear for something so cheap. I have no need for the snooze timer or the variable brightness function but it has both if you need them. I will put it through its paces in the coming weeks but so far I've only had it 3 days before being asked to review it but so far I am more than happy with it. I was excited at the prospect of getting this one to replace it, but unfortunately, it has turned into a disappointment due to a constant low hum that has given me a headache and made my ears ring a little. Unfortunately, I think this is the case with a lot of modern Sony devices because my newer boombox, again from Sony, does the same thing. In every other way, this is a great clock radio and I would have hoped to have it for another several decades, but I am returning it.
