Review: An Absolute Game-Changer for Bathroom Damp and Steam! - What an amazing bit of kit! This Manrose MF100T has completely transformed our shower room and sorted out the damp residue that our old standard 100mm extractor simply couldn’t cope with. The difference in extraction power is enormous — our old fan extracted around 10 litres per second, whereas this beast manages a whopping 68 litres per second (245m³ per hour)! You can genuinely feel the difference. It was easy to install, surprisingly quiet in operation and has made a huge difference to the amount of steam and moisture left behind after a shower. If you’re looking for a very cost-effective way to tackle bathroom steam and damp, I honestly can’t recommend this highly enough. An absolute winner!
Review: Nice and quiet - Whilst the numbers might have you worrying that it could be too powerful (compared to smaller fans) when fitted it's about right for a shower. It's enough to pull the smoke from an extinguished match about 20cm away but you're not going to be in some sort of wind tunnel. The instructions don't actually point it out but if you're using flexible plastic ducting - the kind with a spiral of metal - it's possible to put the last coil of the metal in the plastic arm that locks the cone in. You don't then need any duct tape or retaining clips. It's kind of fiddly to do but does work quite nicely once you've sworn at it enough to get it in place. The shape of the input and output cones aren't really all that suitable for jubilee clips or the like otherwise. The impeller design seems to have been changed from the one that's pictured with a crack. It's now white and has a screw through the middle rather than being pressed onto a shaft. Noise-wise, it's quiet and doesn't vibrate any noticeable amount even on full power. It's not silent in the shower but it is the noise of the air being drawn through the vent rather than any fan or motor noise. It's not likely to be heard outside the room once the door is shut even in the dead of night. The timer seems to have a lowest setting of just over two minutes. I was blissfully unaware it came in a non-timer version (although it's only a couple of pounds cheaper) but it is possible to bypass the timer by simply switching both permanent live and switched live connections. It's worth knowing what the electrical requirements are so that you have everything ordered when you want to fit it. It wants a double pole fused spur with a 3 Amp fuse and contact separation of at least 3mm in all poles. Solid core wiring of at least 1mm² - no flexible cord. No earth is required to the unit itself.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What size ducting would I need to go with this if the fan is placed in the bathroom, going into loft and out under the soffit?**
A: The inlet and outlet manifolds both fit 100mm flexible ducting. I installed the fan in the loft, cut 102mm diameter hole in the ceiling to take 100mm air valve and connected the air valve to the fan using 100mm PVC flexible ducting. I installed a back draught shutter on the output side of the fan and then used 100mm PVC flexible ducting to connect to outside world. The system works a treat. Ive adjusted the run on timer to approximately 10 minutes and the bathroom is now steam free with no condensation forming on the mirror even with several of us using the shower one after the other.

**Q: Is this inline extractor suitable to work in conjuction with a cooker extractor.**
A: No. I would not use it for anything other than a bathroom extractor fan.

**Q: Does the Manrose MF100T extractor fan come complete with the back draught shutter for £55:99 +Free Delivery?**
A: I just ordered a back draught shutter at the same time (for about £5) and then taped it to the vent funnel (making sure I connected it the right way round and the right side of the vent !!!)

**Q: Hi, we have 10m long ducting in the attic, will it still work efficiently? What type of ducting would be the best with it? Thanks**
A: Anything over 3m should have a centrifugal fan to effectively remove humidity or smells

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent "budget" extractor fan
*by D***N on 5 August 2018*

Excellent piece of kit, brought to replace a vent axia VASF100T ceiling extractor fan that i had fit a few months prior... lasted five minutes, didnt clear steam very well at all and eventually went pop.. so comparing the specs on this one to the old one was a no brainer... easily wired up as long as your compentant need to have a 3 pole isolation switch connected to the bathroom lighting circuit to give you the neutral, live and switched live, no earthing required as class 2 product. I chose to use aluminium ducting, i was planning to use plastic piping but due to the layout of the setup this wasnt feasible so opted for aluminium, wouldnt bother with the standard "cotton" style ducting as this stuff collects dirt and fluff very easily which will evertually affect extraction rates/performance, aluminium has smooth sides so hoping this will not be an issue in future. I mounted mine on an off cut of a loft board, also mounted some anti-vibration rubber matting (ment for use with a washing machine) to help with the noise, can bearly hear the fan running however you can notice a fair bit of air noise from the suction within the bathroom. Recommend metal circlips and some duct tape to ensure an air tight seal at eash connection, i had a non return vent fitted near the roof vent to prevent any moisture/dirt/bugs from getting into the system (previous cotton ducting was full of all sorts of things from previous owner) i did however put some duct tape on the flap to help weigh it down to ensure it closed correctly each time was a plastic type one so may have to replace with a metal one at some point but will do for time being. Has three speed settings LOW/MED/HIGH which is selectable via a jumper connection and also an overrun timer. Giving it 4 stars as, as good as it performs you can tell its built on a budget (for the price this is understandable though) so not sure how long it will last, also the overrun setting can be a bit fiddly to get right (lots of testing required to get it set the way you want) but over all very impressed with it so far... time will tell...
