But I just bought another (August 2024) and it is awful. It looks ok, but if I don't shave for a couple of days (which I do often), the new blade is terrible on a heavy stubble, it feels like it is plucking the hairs out rather than cutting them, really painful. Down to 1 star for me, I am going to have to seriously look at replacing the razor with a different one. FURTHER UPDATE June 2025: after months of emails and sharing photos with Braun, they have confirmed that the cutter I was having problems with IS A FAKE. It can be seen in the photo I now attach that the OLD one has springs on the blades, holding them tight against the foil. The NEW one doesn't have these, and this is why it snags and pulls the hairs so badly rather than cutting cleanly. Once I told desertcart about this they refunded me immediately. I noticed that although this has been "shipped from" desertcart, it was "sold by" a seller. I just bought another and made sure to choose "sold by" desertcart, and this is fine. So if you are having problems like I did, you probably have a fake too. My original review follows: I'm in my 50s now, and my Braun series 7 razor is the best razor I've ever owned. It's about 2 years old now, so I figured it was time to splash out on a new blade for it. I was a bit put out that it's an all in one unit now, previous razors I've owned allowed blades and foil to be replaced separately. But it's a minor niggle really. Anyway, my razor was still giving a very good shave, but with the new head it's just like new again. You don't notice the gradual decline in shaving performance over time, until you renew it. Definitely worth it. Review: Does exactly what you expect. - I replaced mine after 16 months and the warning message hadn't appeared at that point. It is hard to tell but the performance of the new shaving head does appear to be slightly better than the one I took off. Obviously it needs time to bed-in a bit but it feels a bit closer and slightly less tugging so more comfortable. The fact that it is so close to the worn out blade is actually a good selling point for these heads and this model of shaver. Previous cheaper Remington Shavers that I owned had noticeably deteriorated after six months and I actually found it essential to replace the foil and cutter at the six month point. Even with a new foil and cutter they weren't close to my Braun. These Braun heads represent great value given that I could have easily got the full 18 months out of it with no noticeable degradation in shave quality. The Braun heads work out far cheaper in the long run than buying the lower priced Remington foil/cutter every six months. Should add that I use mine every day and I do put it on a full cleaning cycle every day so it is always nicely lubricated. I guess someone who only uses the cleaning function once every few days to save money on cleaning fluids might get a shorter life and greater wear rates.
