The whole thing is very sturdy and i have boots and shoes in it and they fit fine height and breadth wise. It's not that easy to assemble ; in principle, it's simple (and detailed illustrations are provided); in practice, it's a bit of a job fitting the connectors, and if you're one of those people who simply lack any capacity for DIY, or have physical problems, such as very arthritic fingers, you might have problems. The instructions do stress the importance of constantly checking that the box-parts are fully inserted into the connectors; if you do it carefully the result is a rigid, stable, good-looking unit where all the right angles are indeed right. I haven't deducted stars because of the fiddly assemby process (I have somewhat arthritic fingers), because, though you can buy storage units which require no assembly, or the assembly of which is simpler, you will have to pay a great deal more. I think this product is well-designed and excellent value.
