The thing I love about this book is that it looks like your average coffee table tome (which it is at one level) but is overflowing with information and essays which place the fashion house in the right context. As a historical overview the book is extremely thorough: everything from business, shops, advertisements, signature symbols and patterns is presented in illustrations and text. I only have three minor points of criticism: I would have liked to see more reproductions of the legendary 1997 Mario Testino campaign. There is a slight overexposure of contemporary celebrities wearing Gucci towards the end of the book. And lastly I find it questionable the way fragrances like the great but discontinued Nobile are written out of history in the perfume chapter.
