desertcart.com : FLISSA 14-inch Bowie Full-tang Fixed Blade Knife with Wood Handle, Hunting Knife with Leather Sheath for Outdoor Survival, Camping, Hiking : Sports & Outdoors

Review: Inexpensive knife that appears quality... - I have bought quite a few knives on desertcart and none were costly. This one was no different. I had $8.00 in my desertcart Card Rewards that I put towards this, so it cost me 'about' $10.00, which is REALLY good. Since I just received it today (5-31-24) I can't really talk about longevity or anything except for first impressions. Out of the box it looks pretty impressive. Picking it up, it feels impressive. Looking at how well (mine is) made it is, it seems to be made very well. I looked it over REALLY good, inspecting it very close for imperfections, only because several here said they found negative things about it, I didn't find one thing negative, appearance-wise. When I removed the knife from the scabbard it wouldn't budge, I tugged and tugged, I wiggled it, I tried moving the sheath leather around to 'free' it, but, it didn't want to move. Finally, it came out, and it appears that the glue from the sheath was still wet when they placed the knife in it. The glue was on the knife's sharp edge. After I looked it over I placed it back inside where it belongs. Like any little boy with a new toy I came back later to look at it, again, it was stuck. This time though, I was ready, and it didn't take as much for its removal. That, was the ONLY thing about it that would even be considered a negative, and that's being picky. The blade's finish is pretty good, I can see 'very fine' grind marks, but it's not that noticeable to me, and, really, I don't care, you might though. The brass is very shiny with no nicks or scratches, both pieces are good. The wood (scales) of the handle is very nice, no scratches, it's perfectly done. The ONLY very small gripe I would have is, I kind of wish that the handle was slightly thicker. I don't have small hands, and I don't have huge hands, but I have normal-sized hands and it wants it a little fatter, but still, it's not a big deal at all to me. I really like how it's a full-tang, that is my favorite part. The knife's thickness is fairly thin, I mean, again, at the price of the knife, nobody should gripe, but, we all know they will. There isn't any flexing going on, it's not that thin, but, aside from the type of metal we all want a knife that is as thick as we can get it. I would NEVER pry with this anyway, (or throw it) and, since I have seen a photograph on here where someone snapped it in half, well, there you go. Of course, we weren't there, so we don't really know the story, but, these, I am sure, were not meant to be used as a pry-bar, or thrown. The leather seems to be very well done, it feels 'quality', but in actuality, it's pretty thin leather. The sheath is very well-made though. Really, the money you saved on the knife I am sure that you can find a better sheath for it if you wanted. The belt-loop is also thin leather, and oddly enough, it has TWO belt-loops, BOTH are two fingers in width, maybe that is for a different carry position, I don't know. It's not a bad thing, really. The brown machine stitching is done very well, and the color of it matches the leather's dye nicely too. The snaps seem to be of good quality, and they work well. Most sheathes have snaps that you REALLY have to stretch to make them work, these are easy, I'm not sure if that is a good thing, or not. All in all, this impressed me quite a bit, it's DEFINITELY worth the money, I don't need it, I just wanted it, and I won't use it, but, I like it. :)
Review: Nice - This is my first bowie knife, and I really like it. Good for chopping weeds in tight spaces while having fun and feeling like crocodile dundee doing it. Decently sharp right out of the package. Went right to chopping large weeds and small trees. Still sharp and no edge damage. For the price, you'll like it a lot. The fittings aren't perfect and the brass finish isn't perfect, there are tiny gaps and blemishes. It doesn't matter to me. You have to look for the gaps to see them; they don't stand out. Good tool, still looks cool, nice and hefty, solid full tang, big blade, good knife, amazing for the 18 bucks I paid for it, I think.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great knife
*by S***M on February 1, 2026*

got the 14-inch bowtie knife and it’s pretty solid. It feels sturdy and well-made, and the flipping action is smooth. It’s definitely more for display or practice than everyday use because of the size, but it’s still fun to handle. Nothing overly impressive, but it’s good quality for the price and does what it’s meant to do.
