As long as you use long enough screws to ensure canopy stay put in windy weather it should work on wood. Use washers if you cannot find 8mm screws. But you could do your own tinting like a car window but remember it has to be formed into the side brackets **Q: What is the hole distance on each bracket?** A: There is no dimensions in the package. Hope this helps. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Strong well put together canopy, looks good. *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 11 October 2026* Great quality canopy, easily put together, like other say a little fiddly but get a decent area to work in and you will be fine.I found that putting the back long piece into the two sides first, not fully nipping the screws up so that the polycarbonate sheets slid in the grooves working down to the middle brace. Which was the most time consuming thing this was due to the slight curve of the overall unit getting the corner of the sheet into the track - which you obviously need to let rain run off. For context, I'd consider myself an experienced DIYer.I bought two of these canopies: a 120cm version for the front door, followed by the 200cm version to provide cover for wall-mounted bikes.Starting with the 120cm version, which doesn't have a centre bracket. It's a little fiddly to assemble, but I found a method that worked well. Line up the canopy panels, stand them vertically on a flat surface, position the rubber seal, then fit one of the side brackets. Start at the front edge, as the round section helps keep everything in place, and work your way along the curve while guiding the plastic sheet into the bracket.One trick I discovered a bit too late is that you can gently squeeze the canopy sheet to make it slightly narrower, which makes guiding it into the bracket much easier.Once assembled, it's reasonably sturdy. It's lightweight enough that one person can mount it without any issues, and the panel doesn't flex. I installed mine onto timber, so I used wood screws and washers instead of the supplied fixings.After the success of the first canopy, I purchased the 200cm version. Assembly started much the same way, building one side and the centre section, then assembling the second side separately before joining both halves together.This was by far the most difficult part of the whole process. Because you're dealing with much larger panels, it becomes awkward to keep everything balanced while trying to guide the canopy sheets into the centre bracket. It took me around six attempts before I finally managed it. Once again, pinching the canopy sheet slightly to narrow it made a huge difference.Even then, I couldn't get the canopy to sit 100% flush in the centre bracket, although the front and rear edges lined up neatly enough for my purposes.As with the smaller version, I didn't use the supplied bolts. They seemed a little long for my cavity wall, and I didn't have a suitable masonry bit for the required holes. Instead, I used 10mm wall plugs with 80mm screws, which have worked perfectly well.Overall, I give it 4 stars. It does exactly what it claims to do, looks good once installed, and is very competitively priced. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is that assembly can be quite fiddly, especially on the larger versions with a centre bracket.
