This Emerson model is super easy to wire up & use. Just a few buttons and has a large lit-up easy-to-read screen. Do an initial setup (read the included manual and google anything that you may not understand in order to select the correct settings for YOUR home's AC/heater). I now just select Heat/Off/Cool - set the temperature and walk away. Everyone in my family can easily operate it without any issues. We have now had it for two hot summer seasons and it has worked flawlessly with our AC unit. Will update if I have any future issues. Hope this review helps! If not, what is? If so, will the old 1f83 wall plate work?** A: This unit is not the one I ordered, so I returned it because it did not fit. Sorry I cannot answer your question. You would need to contact a qualified supplier for this question. **Q: My thermostat's back light is on all the time. Is this correct ? Manual shows a "back light button" on the top of the thermostat. This does nothing** A: The one I replaced was also on all the time. So I did not even question the fact that it's on all the time.
