However it seems very durably made, and I expect that with reasonable care it will last for years. In use, I find that stand does exactly as promised. Though clearly designed for the 12.9 model in horizontal use, it works well in vertical mode, with about 1/3 of the iPad showing above the top of the stand. A smaller iPad would work as well, as the entire upper surface of the stand is is protectively coated. Best feature: the solid gravity only connection between the iPad and desk: It does not wiggle. Downsides: It's not really moment to moment portable. Though it fits inside a laptop compartment in a pack or bag, Elevation Labs built this for desk use: it's much too heavy for lap use (though you can always pluck your iPad from the stand - it's not mechanically fastened). And this one is perhaps my favorite. It is sturdy as all hell, thin and easy to carry, it has a nice rubber backing that not only prevents the table from sliding but also protects it from being scratched. The multiple positions are done by using framed legs, 3 different angles. They are pretty darn solid and lock in place. All three angles are very useful depending on what you are doing. And even when all 3 are folded the table still has a small angle of viewing that can still be useful for other stuff. The palm rest is soft and comfortable, although I am not very used to it because I never use it for any of my other devices, but it is a welcomed accessory, The pencil holder is nice, but I personally never use those things since I read the pencil (or Wacom pen) just like any other pen or pencil and simply rest it on the table. The main table part is heavy gauge steel, with a black foamed rubber on it for prevention of slipping and protection of the iPad. It has a perfect range of angles for viewing, all managed by heavy duties legs that fold out from the back and lock into place. It’s weight is above what would be expected, but is necessary to keep the iPad secure and stable. It does however limit the portability of the device, as it would quickly add too much weight inside a briefcase or tote. It comes with a wrist brace that is appropriately high and comfortable as well as a pen stand for the iPencil to keep it nearby. For the cost, its a good value, durable and will last. This is not a cheaply made stand, nor disposable in anyway.
