Thanks!** A: Hi, The Booda perch (32 inch) is close to an 1 inch in diameter. The 21 inch perch is also close to an 1 inch in diameter and when you remove the caps on the end to screw the perch onto the cage, there is an attached 3/4 inch plastic screw piece with a slot that the cage bar goes into and then you screw on the 1 inch cap over the top of plastic piece so you can get a nice tight fit so perch doesnt slide down cage bars. I have 2 of the 32 inch perches and one 21 inch for the travel cage. The perches bend because of the wire deep inside the rope so you can move it where it needs to go in order to fit. Very sturdy. **Q: it says 36" but the demesions below says 19.4" x1.8" x 5.7" ?** A: It comes in 21", 28", or 36". The measurement also includes the screw on end caps. **Q: Do folks immersion wash these perches in water? Or is there some other, better way? Thanks!** A: yes you could wash these. Soak in the sink and rinse off. I wouldn't uses soap because birds like to chew on them and you don't want them chewing on soap. They would need to be totally dried out before putting in the back in the cage so the feet arent standing on a wet perch. Honestly mine never get dirty. Great for medium sized birds. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wrap these with vet wrap for bird safety *by M***C on July 6, 2019* I got one large and two small of these rope perches for my budgie (parakeet) who now has a disabled leg. He needs a way to climb more since his landing skills aren’t as good, and I wanted to provide a softer surface for his good leg since it’s getting most of the pressure now. I installed the two smaller rope perches in a half circle around his food and water dishes so he has an easy landing/perching surface for eating and drinking. The long rope perch runs from the bottom of the left side of the cage up to the top of the right side, and it’s not a small cage. He also has several wood perches and a couple of platforms to choose from. I see him sitting on the long rope perch quite often. The most important thing with rope perches for any bird is to wrap them with vet wrap. When they’re brand new they’re fine, but with wear and tear, especially if your bird chews on them, strings will start to come loose. These strings can wrap around a toe, leg, or even a neck, trapping your bird and causing injury or death. There have been many cases of birds ingesting the rope fibers after chewing on the rope perch—this will cause an expensive vet bill, as the fibers get impacted in the bird’s crop, requiring surgery, or the bird will die. By wrapping the perch in vet wrap you protect your bird from these loose strings. If your bird is an avid chewer, like my caique, vet wrap may not be enough and a rope perch may not be the best choice. For birds like my budgie though, who doesn’t chew very much, it can be made to be very safe. Now onto the quality of the rope perch. I’ve owned a few rope perches in the past. This brand seems to be just as good of quality as any others I’ve owned. They were easy to install, even with my hands being not all that strong. I love that they’re bendable and they will hold whatever shape you put them in. They are hard to clean, but again if you wrap them in vet wrap, the vet wrap is somewhat easier to clean and you can just remove it and rewrap when they get too dirty.
