## Description

brewing extraordinary coffee right into your cup. The Hario V60 is a cone pour-over brewer which has been specially designed to produce an evenly brewed cup of coffee. The V60 is one of the most popular manual coffee brewers on the market today. Why the cone shape? The cone shaped paper filter adds depth to the coffee layer, so that the water flows to the center, extending the amount of time it is in contact with the ground coffee. The brand recognized by Coffee Geeks worldwide.

Review: Make great coffee! - I make a full 850ml of coffee with this thing every morning plus another 500ml in the afternoon. It’s added real class to my ritual, not to mention the coffee tastes amazing. It’s pretty fool proof if you get the ratio of coffee to water right because it has a nice steep time; a full filter takes about 6 minutes to drip through from start to finish. Bonus that it’s very pretty and fits on almost anything you might want to make coffee in—I have a carafe I love and it fits perfectly. I wash it by hand and don’t plan to put it in the dishwasher so I’m sure it will last a very long time. It still looks brand new after 2 months of twice daily use.
Review: From being a Dufus to being in Love - So I wanted to transition from a hollow ceramic dripper which had a very specific cup size requirement. It was good for my fave mug but nothing else. Family issues with that. I decided to try this plastic pour over. It was capacious and very flexible with regard to the cup/insulated jug size it will accomodate. All good except dufus move #1, I ordered the smallest (#1) size and I really wanted the largest #3 size. But I did not understand Hario sizing having only used filters for size 2 and 4 pour overs. Also I was negligent and did zero research... I am in a rush.. so boom! done! All of us have been there, Right? Then I get this little tiny #1 pour over. I am thinking do I contribute it to my Grand Daughters miniature kitchen set or do I return it? OK, returned the #1 for the #3. Got that bigger one and now I am ready to roll. So dufus #2 move... I "rolled" with my old #4 coffee filters which I used in my original (and many other) pourover. After ruining several cups of coffee as the bottoms of these filter blew out, I finally went to you tube and " what the ..... is going with this coffer pour over? Yea...finally....I know. Anyway, it turns out the Hario pour over design requires a conical filter. Once I figured this out I ordered the correct filter and have fallen in love with this pour over. Why? Excellent stability Broad base for different container opening sizes Durable and I like the see through Single fill of the #3 will deliver almost 12 oz coffee The filtering system rocks! Although gormands would probably be aghast at this, I will prep two or three cups of coffee using same filter and grounds while adding additional fresh grounds at each pouring. Some of my filters really slow down when attempting this. This system performs much more efficiently. I commit this heresy to save a little $ on the filter side but also because I am aboard a boat and this minimizes waste volume. Win Win. I am a convert to Hairo.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Design - Hario 03 vs. RSVP Cone
*by K***S on January 28, 2015*

I having been brewing with the pour-over method for at least 10 years; it is my preferred daily brew. I have been using the RSVP manual coffee cone which is excellent but not as good as this Hario, IMO. So what is the difference? -Hario has large curving ribs which keep the filter from sticking to the sides & needing adjustments to keep the flow of water moving. -RSVP ribs are too small to really make a difference in function. -Hario has a large hole in the bottom which keeps the flow moving faster so that the water is not in contact with the beans for too long (that results in over extraction/bitter taste). -RSVP has 1 small hole in the center. If your filter is set at the wrong angle, it can really slow down the flow. I always put my filter in at an angle so that it did not adhere to the sides & block the flow of water. It often needs an adjustment during the brew. Annoying. -The Hario Clear Plastic version sits a bit awkwardly on my Copco 2-quart insulated carafe because the top of the carafe is angled & the base of the Hario is large & not removable. I will most likely order the glass Hario with the removable base to take care of this. The plastic Hario fits perfectly/stable on my Zojirushi 64-ounce carafe w/brew-thru lid; it has a flat top; I use this one at my cabin so I'll move the plastic Hario there. -The RSVP has an excellent design for brewing in to a carafe. It has the long neck that extends down & a small base to fit many different carafes. -The Hario 03 is large enough for my 6 Cups/day brew but when I have a house full of company & need to brew more, it is too small. I will use the RSVP for large brews. -I use a white Melitta #6 filter in the RSVP. I have tried the trick of folding the #6 filter to a point & using it in the Hario. It works pretty well but the seam does get in the way & flows a bit at an angle. I prefer the Hario white 03 filters; no fiddling around. But either work fine. -I use a medium-fine grind with the Hario & a medium grind with the RSVP. I found that I need a bit finer grind with the Hario or the water flows thru a bit too fast. If I go too fine w/the RSVP, it takes a long time to flow thru & I end up w/a more bitter coffee. There are many videos & opinions online showing how to use the pour-over method. My method in general: -I use water at @ 200F. Or bring your water to boil, let it sit off the boil for a minute or two & then pour. Temperature does make a difference; experiment to find your preferred temp/flavor. -I use white Melitta or Hario paper filters & have found no discernible flavor difference when I rinse the filter prior to brew so I do not bother w/rinsing. I do NOT like brown paper filters; those are vile IMO. -I brew directly in to a stainless, insulated carafe. That carafe is used ONLY for coffee. Get a separate one for tea or the taste will be horrid. You will ruin your tea or coffee - BLEH! -I always put hot water in my insulated carafe to warm it prior to brewing in to it. Dump before brewing - duh. -I use a conical burr grinder to fresh grind my coffee beans. Those blade grinders are not worth the trouble. I owned many prior to spending the money on a decent burr grinder. You would be better off buying ground coffee over using a blade grinder. -I prefer a medium roast coffee so there is actually coffee bean flavor - not a charred bean w/all the complex flavor roasted out of it.
