Review: Great product. Folds up nice and small. Excellent customer service. Highly recommended.
Review: I love this little stove! I have used this stove from camping, to a hot lunch on a remote jobsite in the mountains of Colorado. Couple this stove with an inexpensive mess kit, a can opener and some canned foods, and you have a backpack-able solution to your food cooking problems. The design of this stove must surely date back to the 1930's, or even before, yet the functionality cannot be surpassed. Sure, a WhisperLite is trendy, and might heat water and food a little more quickly than sterno, but the tradeout is carrying around those bulky gas canisters, which are only useful for the stove itself. Sterno, on the other hand, has many other uses while outward bound, and much easier to tote around with you than those canisters, believe me. I originally purchased my first Sterno stove in 1995 when I learned to flyfish after moving to Colorado. I needed something inexpensive, and easy to backpack, as I used to take off and spend two to three days fishing different rivers throughout the state. My whole system was easy enough to use to prepare some hot food after braving a frigid river on a November morning was a great morale booster. Whipping this out at a jobsite 10 miles from the closest Wendy's, Subway or any food outlet made my fellow workers envious as I enjoyed a can of hot chili and crackers while they mulled through their bologna sandwiches or other such lunchfare. I was asked numerous times where I had purchased my stove, and after returning to work over the next few days, noticed a few other little stoves had popped up on the site. I gave it away to a couple of hippie kids who were 'traveling' through Colorado one day, and, can only imagine that once they landed on their feet, that little stove has been passed on to another soul who can put it to good use. I am back to buy another to stick in my "Grab and Go" bag, just in case I ever need to head for the hills, due to some sort of disaster.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this be used inside an apartment in the event of an emergency power outage, providing I turn on the vent above the oven in the kitchen?**
A: I don't think any extra venting would be necessary. I mean, do you open a window when you cook on your gas stove? Probably not.

**Q: What type of pan or pot should be used with this? Cast iron? A regular metal pot or pan?**
A: I have used a 6" cast iron skillet as well as some anodized aluminum camping cookware that I got from Coleman. I have not used any pan heavier than that 6" skillet, and I haven't used any pan that exceeds the width of the stove top. Also, I always make sure the folding stove is securely put together prior to using it so there is less chance of an accident. Good luck with it!

**Q: I'm new to camping. Can I cook a real meal from scratch or is it really just for heating food up?**
A: This isn't a major heat source. A small container of water can be boiled (say two cups), but it will likely take something like 15 minutes. You could cook something like eggs with no problem, but a large pan of stew might take forever to make from scratch. You might be better off with a campfire if you want to cook a large amount of raw ingredients into a real meal. For heating canned meals, soup or heating water for coffee, especially if you don't want to mess with a large fire, this product works great.

**Q: Has anyone used this with the trangia stove?**
A: Alex,They way it is it won't work with a Trangia burner as I've tried. It only has 3 points of contact for the sterno can to rest on and the sterno cans are larger than spirit burners so the trangia burner won't sit in it properly. You could definitely modify it to work, but for me there were better smaller lighter options like a clikstand, if you are not familiar with those check them out as they are made specifically for Trangia burners. If you are looking for something that you can use with both sterno fuel and a trangia unit without modification check out Sterno's other folding stove setup at their website or walmart as it appears Amazon does not sale it. That setup has a different folding stove that fits in a square cookpan, that include a meat spork, knife and metal cup. You can fit both a sterno can and a trangia burner on their, but its much heavier and not suited for backpacking, but would work for an emergency kit in a car or at home for a power outage or something. But my experience with sterno is that it will not boil water. I can put two cups of room temp water over a sterno canister and even after 25minutes in a 70deg room it won't boil. That renders it useless in my opinion for any kind of disaster. Also if you were looking at the Coughlan folding stove I'd recommend against that as well as it gets so hot with your trangia burner that it causes your alcohol to boil and flash off. It gets so hot that it will burn anything flammable its sitting on like wood or the ground. If you are looking for just something lightweight for a trangia burner look at the clickstands or the actual trangia cook-sets as those rock.Good luck!
