## Description

Vibra-TITE VC-3 Original is a powerful locking and sealing coating for threadedfasteners that works on the principle of "friction through viscosity." It utilizes a special blend of acrylic resins to prevent fasteners from loosening - even under extreme vibration. Designed for use on external and internal threads of virtually any material or finish, Vibra-TITE VC-3 Original dries to the touch within seconds of application coated parts are ready for assembly in just a few minutes. Pre-cleaning of parts is not required except for wiping off any visible oil, grease, or dirt for optimal performance. From tiny eyeglass screws to huge construction bolts, ideal for use on fasteners of any size. Excellent Shelf Life: Parts coated with Vibra-TITE VC-3 Original can be stored indefinitely before use. Versatile: Vibra-TITE VC-3 Original adheres to both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, most platings, wood, and plastic screws. Creates a Reliable, Powerful Lock and Seal: With exceptional reliability, Vibra-TITE VC-3 Original holds parts in place even during extreme vibration and resists leakage by acting as a dam between mated threads. Offers Multiple Reuses: Using steady pressure and standard hand tools, parts coated with Vibra-TITE VC-3 Original can easily be adjusted, removed, and reused. Methyl ethyl ketone Solvent, Resilient plastic Cured form, Indefinite (under ideal storage conditions) Shelf life, Offers resistance to most solvents (acts as a partial corrosion barrier) Chemical resistance, Water and Salt water Total resistance, Dries to touch In seconds and Dries for use In minutes, Best achieved using considerable airflow in addition to temperature not exceeding 130 degree F Drying method for bulk production, 5 or more times reusable, moderate engagement torque, no distinct break; slow, fluid release as material cold flows Breakaway, 1-1/2 times diameter Standard coating length, 30 - 50% of the thread root area Thread fill requirement. 250 ml Can.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: So guys, I am using it on a M4 - M5 fasteners, where the goopy consistency covers the tiny threads too heavily.
I wanted to wipe off excess although it sets almost immediately resulting in stringy mess, (although it does the job) do you have to cool the bolt or the VC3 liquid for best results?
Also what kind of solve…**
A: Those are some good questions my friend. Cooling the bolt is unnecessary, as it can be applied even under salt water, and it has cold flow properties to begin with. As far as solvents to clean it up, it's acrylic resin methyl ethyl ketone based , it stays in a taffy like consistency which never fully cures, it stays in a taffy like consistency, aka 'viscous resin'. Removing it can be done by picking or peeling it off. A couple times I used a small wire brush on my Proxxon rotary tool to remove Vc-3 on hard to reach inner threads.

It's non soluble in water and also insoluble with many solvents, that's why it works so well with firearms when exposed to firearm nasty cleaning solvents such as Sweets Bore Cleaner and such. VC-3's anti vibration attributes keeps it put, it only comes off if that's your intend. It can be used as a thread 'dam' for damaged threads. It's so versatile, it'll also work on wood.

I did gander through this products MSDS and Safety Data sheets to see if a specific cleanup agent is specified, but none listed, probably for the aforementioned reasons above.

**Q: I have red thread locker, I think by loc tite. How does Vibratite red compare? Same chemistry different name?**
A: Vibra-tite is more expensive and is more something for special purposes then Loc-tite is, You apply Vibri-titwe to the threads of a Bolt or Pipe Plug and you need to let it dry. It dries to sort of a rubbery coating in the Threads and you need to let it dry properly before you use it. Once it is dried you could put that Bolt on a shelf and come back Years later and use it and the Coating is good.If you have bought a Bolt or Plug from an Auto Parts Store and it has a Coating on it that is a Sealant or ant-vibration coating that is similar to Vibri-tite.The other feature of Vibri-tite is that you can remove the Bolt 2-3 times and do not have to re-coat the Bolt. You cannot do that with Loc-tite.I think Vibri-tite also can take a higher heat but you should check the Vibra-tite website for that. Loc-tite is sort of like plastic and it melts at a lower temp.In order for Loc-tite to be effective both surfaces need to be degreased (I use Brake Cleaner for that). With Vibra-tite the part you apply the coating to needs to be degreased but the other part can be Oily as long as the Oil is clean without a lot dirt sticking to it.It does not happen often but once in a while something you use Loc-tite on gets difficult to remove. While you can easily heat an area with a Propane Torch and melt Loc-tite; once melted you can remove the Bolt or Screw. Sometimes it is not possible to apply heat due to where the Part is. You will never have that problem with Vibra-tite.I was a Diesel Mechanic for 18 Years and I have used Loc-tite and similar generic thread lockers/sealers and the Vibri-tite. Most of the time I used Loc-tite. I thin like 95% of the time Loc-tite will do the job.If it is important enough I would go to the websites of the 2 Companies and get the details from them. The Company Loc-tite also makes different Products.Best Wishes

**Q: how long does the opened container last before it dries out??**
A: I opened and used the vibra threadmate tube 3 months ago on a lawn mower whose lower right bar attached by 3 screws came out. It was opened sporadically during a 30 minute period, totaling maybe 5 minutes of that 30 minutes of use. The 3 screws coated with the red gluish resin and screwed back in, have held up great. And unlike crazy glue's tube of glue, that oxidizes hard rather quickly (days, whatever) after brief exposure to air in opening the tube, I just opened the vibra threadmate tube again for your question and checked the red gluish like resin and it's still very fluid, which would stay like that in the tube, until placed on screws and dries around them. Though not to rock hard condition like with loctite for threaded screws back into their sockets. Loctite being for metal to metal and not metal to plastic like I needed it for, with the lawn mower. Vibra threadmate dries to a tough resin from its fluid resin condition and can be unscrewed a few times and screwed back in to still hold the screws in tightly. At least that is what is said about the red gluish resin. I haven't tried doing that.

**Q: I apply on 5/8 bolt only on the threads where the nut goes, I wipe off excess. Takes 2 fairly big wrenches to assemble, am I putting too much?**
A: Better to apply more than not enough to an open thread/nut, but if the thread lock is applied too much on a bolt that fits in to a closed ended solid metal block or frame, beware of hydrolic resistance.
