I feel that it acts fairly soon. Try the 50mg and if it isn't enough try the 100mg. If it is for depression, you might use 500 mg St John's Wort 2 times day with the 5HTP. The 5HTP relaxes you but I could not take in the daytime after I had taken it for a while because it made me sleepy. It does work well at night. Try on the weekend.
