There are a few silly things in there that take away from the story a bit, which is why it lost a star. I wanted to write a review to address all the concerns of the people who gave it a low rating. First, by the time I got the book the error where it listed the dad at the back was fixed. The sad faced mom is still in there though, as is the fact that the main character Pea is a boy and I have a girl. Luckily, the pages are not very shiny and I was able to very easily make some minor modifications with just a marker and a crayon. I very easily made the frown of the sad mom- talking about how she didn’t have a man in her life - into a smiling mom. I also turned the mother into a brunette, and gave the little P a curlyhaired blonde ponytail, making the family look more like mine. It was pretty easy to do! Right now, this is one of the best books for explaining the process in toddler friendly language ### ⭐⭐ I really wanted to like this *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2019* I really wanted to like this book, but i had a really huge issue with the page that says "mommy doesn't have a man," and she the picture looks sad. I am a HAPPY SMBC, and never wanted or needed a man in my life. I am NOT sad about my decision to go it alone. there are plenty of better books than this. Try For mommy so loved me, it is so much better, and the author truly understands what being a single mother by choice is. ### ⭐ Great if you have a boy but I have a daughter *by K***S on Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2017* I don't know why the baby pea at the end couldn't be androgynous. The book explains a "girl pea" and "boy pea" and then at the end the "pea that was me" is illustrated as a boy pea.
