Review: Best present I ever got! - My sister gave me this clock for my 16th birthday. Twenty years later, it finally stopped working. I think I may have only changed the batteries 3 times. I have been through many other clocks during the time I have had this clock, and this clock remains my favorite. Small, travels easily, reliable. The alarm is perfect: loud enough to wake me up, not so loud that it scares me. I also enjoy the small light used to view the time in the dark. Many times I have used the light from the clock as a flashlight. Buy this clock, you will not regret it! 7/16/12 - Update. I received my new clock and was disappointed by two things: 1) The colon between the hours and the minutes blinks. I have a feeling this will drive me crazy if I am in the same room with the clock and see it blinking out of the corner of my eye. 2) The alarm is much louder and not as gentle. I really, really liked my clock from 1992 because of the soft, but effective alarm. Here's some great news, though: for some reason, I decided to try putting batteries into the old clock and it works again! I honestly have no complaints about this alarm clock, it's lightweight and easy to use, and I hope they never stop making it. It takes two AAA batteries that don't come included, but it's not a big deal to me for this price. The batteries last a long time. I think the thing I like the most (and some people may dislike) is that when the alarm goes off, the snooze button will continue to snooze the alarm as many times as you want to, making it so you can't accidentally turn the alarm off in your sleep and wake up late for work (a problem I often have relying on my phone to wake me up). With this clock, you have to flick the alarm off with the switch to make it stop. I can see this being an issue if you forget to turn it back on again, but I find it easy to flick the switch off and on when I turn the alarm off. I much prefer that than my phone alarm, which will stop going off after I've pressed snooze a couple times. **Q: what kind of batteries does it use?**
A: Two AAA batteries.  Readily available anywhere.  But in several years of running I've never had to replace them - so battery life is very, very long!

**Q: Does it fold up?  What is the dimension after being folded up.**
A: No, this clock does not fold. It is a convenient shape for so-called "suitcase tetris", however. I have always taken it with me and it has always fit in my bag.

**Q: Does it fold up?**
A: No - it sits like pictured but does not fold.  It can be tucked among clothing easily though.  So far so good - mine is holding up well and I'd recommend it.

**Q: does the alarm shut off automatically or do I need to turn it off?**
A: It goes for one minute then shuts itself off.

Perfect for traveling. We just used it on a cruise, and it was helpful to have this to keep up with time changes when our phones took much longer to update. It speeds up, but I like that in a clock. Really easy to change the time, so I'm not that worried about it. It lights up pretty bright, and I don't considerate it feasible for using that feature at night. Best used during the day. I love the size, color, and alarm accuracy. Took off one star because of how bright the light is.
