Exercise Wheel - 11in Wodent Wheel | Small Animal Exercise Wheel with Nail Trimmer Insert for Sugar Gliders, Mice, Rats, Gerbils and Other Small Animals

I love this brand and design of running wheel, I have been ordering them online as needed for many years. It is fantastic for sugar gliders and rats alike! It protects their tail while they run and the insert keeps those little claws trimmed. Very quiet, can be stood up in cage or attached to a barred cage wall/ceiling. Insert can be removed for cleaning and inserting of new sandpaper. DO NOT RECOMMEND for pregnant animals. Openings are designed for quick entry and exit but a rat sticking out while a second rat runs can potentially cause harm to unborn babies if they get caught between wheel itself and the bar that suspends it. Pregnant animals are better off with an open sided plastic wheel with no suspension bars in the opening, which is usually safer for multiple young pups as well.

Wonderful for my sugar gliders. Sturdy, quiet - they use it all the time and they trim their nails as well. Two of them run on this all the time and they do not seem to be in danger to get entangled or anything. They play on this all day. Cleaning it is another issue as you have to remove a pin and then it all comes off but you have to remember how it all goes back. Anyhow found a YouTube on how to do it - they should have the link to an official video on the written instructions.

We bought this for our sugar gliders. First off they absolutely love this wheel. I'm not sure if the holes were designed intentionally for them to use it as a toy to go in and out but ours do. The original purpose was to grind down their nails slightly and it has done that for sure. The sandpaper track is removable and the wheel can still be used if you don't want them to wear down the nails too much or it just needs to be replaced. The insert is good for some times, as you can clean it because it uses water resistant type sandpaper. We just clean it real good and set it outside to dry for a few minutes.

My rats seem to like this (at least my females). I think my big males may be slightly too large for it although they do use it once in a while. Now my overall opinion is that this is an Okay product, it wobbles a bit when the rats start running faster but doesn't look like it'll fall over. My rats have pushed the whole thing around a bit in their cage a few times (my big guys like to re-arrange things). The nail-o-matic insert slides sometimes when they use it (especially if it's the males). Also the "tail shield" which I am guessing is the center ring is kinda large, could be about half the size which would give larger rats more room as it is now my biggest males back rubs against it when he runs in the wheel. It would also be nice if a cage attachment option was available. I went to the hardware store and bought 4 inch long 1/4 inch wide (threaded part) which fits through the hole in the middle fine and gives enough clearance to attach it. Also a wing nut and 4 washers as well as 2-3 nuts depending on how much space you want between the wheel and the cage side. This setup works great with the Critter Nation cage that has 1/2" horizontal bars. (just remember if you do this to check to make sure it's not coming loose with use).

I was very very pleased! I thought I was just ordering the insert for my wheel, but I realized when I got it in, it was also a wheel. The package came in wonderful condition, and packed very well, so the items would not get damaged. The wheel, and the insert itself has been working great! I would clip my Glider's nails at least once or twice a week, and now I only have to do it every so often. It took them a night or two to get used to it, but they love it now! I was also very touched the personalized note that was left in an envelope in the package thanking me for the purchase, and linking me to their website. It was also very nice of them to include a small bag of yogurt drop, treats, for my gliders. They really love them, and I'm planning on buying more on their website. This was honestly one of the best purchases I've made in a long while. I will for sure buy from them again! Highly Recommended for any owners on Sugar Gliders.

*********EDIT*******************This is initial impressions. My kids have two fancy rats and they have VERY SHARP nail, and I was given the opportunity to try out this natural style nail trimmer, which uses the fine sand to trim their nails while they run, while also protecting their feet. This wheel seems large enough for them, but doesn't take up too much room. The wheel also moves smoothly, but with slight resistance-making it more stable for them. It seems to be very safe (other wheels I've seen seem dangerous, and could cause injury with the open bars) it is light weight, and the design makes it safe both for the one using it- and a cage mate--so it doesn't get injured. So far, the girls are very cautious of it, I will post back when they have acclimated to it well, and we see how it works for their nails. Had it for a little while and LOVE it. At first, I wasn't sure-because they chewed some of the flooring, the mesh-but think they were just checking it out. They have both used it, and WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!!!! Their nails are so much better-and they are fun to hold now, because they aren't shredding us up. It trims their nails-but gently-so they aren't too short. I think that it is really a great investment. I recommend it for people with pet rats. Our girls love it now.

Neko barely uses it at all, but my baby Jade is on it constantly and it keeps her nails nice and short while Neko's stay significantly longer from not using it as much. If you have an energetic glider this might work for them!

This wheel has keep my 5 sugar gliders nails trimmed. It's a perfect size for full grown and adolescent sugars. I love that it's on a base free standing as it can be located anywhere in cage and easy to remove and clean

Pretty good, not too sure what's going on with the other reviews about sandpaper or having to self assemble. This item comes pre assembled which is nice. However, the person that assembled this did not do a great job at putting the wheel back together (see video) Overall, it's pretty decent. Build quality needs some work. The wheel is quite quiet not silent but not too loud either.

I have read bad press from sugar glider owners but they are all referring to a couple of cases where the owner removed the central protection ring. I had have them for more than 2 yrs and they are excellent. They clean easily, they are sturdy. When I lost a small ring - they replaced it for free within a couple of days and I line in Greece. Mind you I have 8 of them
