The hydraulic lift in the base works well to raise or lower the seat, and the seat holds this position when you’re on it, so it’s definitely sturdy enough for the average adult. The armpiece height is adjustable as well. And the arms are sturdy enough that I can push my weight from them, which is something I like to do periodically – sort of a modified push-up – just a little bit of exercise during the work day. The armpieces look and feel just a little cheap, so I’m not sure how well they will hold up over time. They are slightly padded, which is nice. The back of the chair provides reasonably good back support. The mesh fabric has a comfortable amount of “give," and there’s a plastic piece that sits just behind the mesh that offers a little pressure on your lower back. It’s somewhat adjustable so you can fit it to your anatomy. The seat cushion is very comfortable – one of the best I have experienced.Assembly is the main drawback. It’s complicated, and the directions are suboptimal drawings that are too small to easily comprehend. They also cram too many steps into each drawing. (For the record, I have above-average DIY skills and don’t usually have difficulty assembling things.) The bag of screws and washers was missing a couple of pieces but nothing I couldn’t easily replace from my toolbox. There are two sizes of screws, and it’s easy to mix them up, because they are barely different. There are actually two sizes of a few pieces. The hardest physical part of the assembly process was attaching the arm pieces. Without a helper, it was difficult to hold the parts together in just the right position to enable insertion of the screws.I will add that the chair was not packed well for shipping. There was no insulation around the chair parts, and the box itself was not taped securely enough. The chair was about to fall out of the bottom of the box when I brought it into the house. Happily, none of the pieces were damaged.Bottom line – once you get past the packaging and assembly issues, you’ve got yourself a really nice office chair. Risky to Purchase. *by M***X on Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2017* The media could not be loaded. This chair was pitifully packed at the factory and it resulted in one major part being broken into bits and two other non-critical areas damaged. This was not an issue of the transportation companies. Pieces were just thrown into the box without any standard packaging or regard for the breakable parts. If you receive this without breakage, it will be pure luck. The adjustment handle that adjusts the chair height was broken into three different pieces from repeated banging around on the inside of the box - thus pretty much ruining the chair. There were six holes in the box, all created from within. The cheap soft cardboard box’s torn parts were all pushed outward, not inward. At this point, a lot of pieces will need to be replaced to fix it and I very much doubt anyone will offer to do that, but I'll try.Otherwise, this is a very comfortable chair. I don't think it's worth the current price, however. The cushion is about three inches thick at the thickest part. The seating area is about 19¼ inches wide and about 18½ inches deep. However, not all of that 18½ inches is available because of the chair back taking up some of that space. The chair back is about 22½ inches in height. There is an adjustable lumbar support that is adjustable. I think it is too low in any position, but the highest position is the most useful for me. I wish it went higher than it does. The mesh back allows air circulation if you ever lean back that far. I usually sit up straight and my back never touches the chair back unless I want to take a stretch break and lean back to release the tension in my shoulders and neck from typing and viewing the computer monitor.The assembly was straightforward. My wife enjoys doing all mechanical assembly, so I'm more than willing for her to do it. I didn't time her, but she did it fairly quickly and without any assistance from me except her hands are not strong enough to tighten the bolts. They use Allen head screws. I ordered some tools to make this much faster and easier in the future. I did have the correct size straight Allen head screwdriver that attached to my drill motor that made it go faster on the next chair she built.It’s a shame they put all this design effort into this chair and then just throw the various pieces in the box and expect it to make the journey without damage. There was one cardboard separator and it got all mangled and lost whatever it was supposed to do. There is so some thin bubble pack on a few pieces, but nothing but a thin plastic bag over the seat and nothing over the lever that got broken into three pieces. I almost need a glove to operate it to keep from getting cut. I’ll try to super glue it back together, but I know it can’t possibly survive the force necessary to raise the chair up and down. For those of you who consider this a shipping problem, it isn’t. If they don’t provide any sensible way of preventing damage during normal shipment, that’s part of the design process – or in this case, a complete absence of anyone thinking how to package it better. This chair costs a lot of money and I’m not going to be the only person who received a damaged chair with this inferior and negligent absence of packaging.
