Review: Minimalist multitool - I carry a multitool daily for work and have lost a couple as a result. The bond is basic, compact, and built with a purpose. The new blade shape is safer since it had an issue with wear and the blade popping up when in use and is also really easy to sharpen. The plier pivot screws were really tight and tighten uneven. I had to loosen both pivots a little to allow the pliers to open even and allow for easier use (no wobble). This is my main grip with the bond. The pst2 can be flung open one handed. The bond I doubt will ever be able todo this as the friction system they have will likely not wear in and will always keep tension. For size, weight, and price, the bond is the perfect job site multitool. Has all the basics and no extra fluf for me. The Arc is 100x better in every other way but its bukly compared and a few extra tools that aren't used by me. The Arc is like an extension of you. Easy and quick access to everything. Small jobs are done in a flash. An all in one system. No need for a pocket knife. The bond is just a tool. Convenient but slow. A working man's multitool who gets paid by the hour. Tool is built stronger, philips works better, less dust, no cleaning, beat it up and keep on going for a lifetime.
Review: Finally, a worthy successor to the PST. - I got an original PST (and a mini) back in the early 90s, and it was my treasured companion through many adventures, backpacking through Europe, hiking the Northeast, and a worthy accomplice for breaking and fixing many things along the way. After 9/11, I had to stop carrying a knife on the daily, since I would inevitably lose it in the airport. I lost my mini this way, and have been a jealous guard of my PST since, keeping it in my hiking pack where it will never see an airport or a metal detector. Leatherman has come out with many models since, but none had the rugged simplicity of the PST. I got a Fuse out of necessity, and it's made in China, a few material layers thicker, and had some useless rubber handle features and extra blade locks. I started searching EBay for PST replacements in case I lost my last one, since the modernized Chinese-made versions are NOT the same as the original. The Bond IS that PST, or might as well be. Other than the missing 'Made in Oregon' stamping, it's the same rig... the same excellent pliers, the same capable blade, the badass file that eats metal. It lost the lanyard loop and gained a thumb grove for the knife blade - a reasonable trade - , it gained some rivets for the hinge, but it has the same winning form factor, the slim nose detail that makes it pocketable, as its granddaddy. I'm buying a bunch of spares to stuff in a drawer in case I lose my PST... and if I'm wrong and manage to keep it until the very end, my heirs can fight over these replacements at my wake.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Whete is it made?**
A: Portland Oregon

**Q: Are the tools able to be locked like many leatherman or not like the original this is recreating?**
A: No locks, like the original. The original was quite safe, in that one is supposed to close the handles after deploying any of the tools. Used that way, the tools cannot fold on your fingers/hand. Locks became necessary with subsequent designs that allowed for tool use without unfolding the handles.

**Q: Does the blade on this multitool lock?**
A: No. The blade on the Leatherman Bond does not lock.

**Q: Do the tools lock? they are not supposed to; the one-star review of may 17 is misleading. the design is similar to the original leatherman multitool**
A: No locks on tools

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Quality Leatherman pliers
*by A***N on September 8, 2025*

It's a Leatherman so you're obviously going to get pretty good quality not to mention just as they said in the product description it is lightweight and very easy to carry. Although when folding or unfolding the tool or even when trying to access any of the other tools within I help but notice everything tends to move with a fair bit of resistance that I've never noticed in any other Leatherman tools that I've owned. I attempted to remedy this by applying some oil but that did not seem to make a difference so I assume that it must be an intentional sort of thing with this specific model. But that aside the resistance in no way affects the usability of the tool. Not to mention I've been consistently carrying this tool every single day since I got it. All that aside I'd definitely recommend this tool if it's something that one could find themselves using.
