Best, -Brian **Q: what size strings would you guys recommend for a beginner that has no experience whatsoever with any kind of instrument Any answer I will appreciate** A: The smaller the gauge, the thinner the strings are. Usually, people refer to them as "9s, 10s, 11s and sometimes 12s." That refers to the high E string (the smallest one) at 0.009mm thick, 0.10mm thick, 0.11mm etc... If you're a beginner, 9s will be the easiest to play, but you may be better off using 10s right from the start so you can build up some strength. But you don't want playing to be uncomfortable. To be honest, the best way to learn and to gain finger strength would be by playing acoustic guitar **Q: Would the heavy ones work good on a hollow body guitar?** A: Yah, they should. Are you upping or changing gauge? If so the heavier gauge might throw off your guitar set up. I use the 11's or 12's in standard on everything from my tele to my acoustic, so they should sound and work well.
