So a 3x3 square organizer is 3'x3'x1'. the 2x3 square organizer is 2'x3'x1'. However, the inside of each cube space is more like 11.5"x11.5"x12" (or a little more if you set it away from the wall. for clearance, I'd say that any basket or canvas tote that measures 11"x11"x11" will work fine. Again, I used the standard canvas totes that they sell at walmart and it looks pretty sharp. hope that helps!
