The Amazing World Of Horses: Adult Coloring Book (Amazing Horses)

This is a revised version of my review. The artist republished this book with a slightly different design mix. Of note, the zebra design and that of the horse with the Native American are no longer in the current version of the book. Additional designs have been added and deleted and some which remained were modified and/or cropped differently. It as different enough that I felt that I should re-purchase the book to update my video, my colored samples, and the design samples as well. This is my second coloring book of designs by this talented artist. Her first coloring book is one of a variety of animals, including horses. In this coloring book, horses are the main theme. The horses are beautifully and realistically drawn in the line form and then the artist adds other elements, shading and “doodles” with the horse to give the colorist the ability to have more fun when coloring the designs. The designs are fun, easy to color, and have a nice level of detail without having small and minute areas to color. There are 43 coloring designs (46 if you include the horses on the intro pages to the book.) A number of the designs have gray scale shading already added to them, which makes shading easy as the base color (usually in marker for me) takes on a darker hue when put over the gray. The designs are printed on one side of non-perforated paper. The binding is glued rather than sewn so you will have to cut pages out if you wish to remove them. Only two of the designs merge into the binding, so you will lose some portion of the design if you cut the page out. A couple of other come close and you will have to be careful if you cut them out. I was able to break the spine of the book and get it to lay fairly flat. All of my markers (both alcohol and water-based) bled through this paper. My India ink artist pens did not bleed through the paper. My gel pens did not bleed through but left a shadow on the back of the page. The gel pens did not take any extra drying time. My coloring pencils worked fairly well and according to the type of lead used (soft or hard lead.) I will certainly be using some markers when coloring these designs, so I will use a piece of chip board or card stock under the page that I am working on to keep the ink from leaking through the rest of the book. These are the coloring medium that I use for testing. If there is something else you feel I should be testing, please let me know and I will see if I can add it to my growing pile: Markers: 1) alcohol-based – Copic Sketch, Prismacolor double ended markers (brush and fine point), Sharpies (fine and ultra-fine) Bic Mark-its (fine and ultra-fine) and 2) water-based – Tombows dual end markers (brush and fine point), Stabilo 88, Staedler triplus fineliners, and Pentel markers India Ink: Faber Castell PITT artist pens (brush tip) Gel Pens: Sakura, Fiskars, Uni-ball Signo in the following sizes - 0.28/0.38/0.5/1.0 and Tekwriter Coloring Pencils: Prismacolor Premier Soft Core, Derwent Colorsoft, Prismacolor Verithins, and Faber-Castel Polychromos

This is by far the best adult coloring book I have ever come across. I got this for my 10-year-old daughter and she literally squealed when she opened it. So even though this is made for adults, I highly recommend this book for children too. Aside from horses, there are also pictures of pegasus, unicorns, ponies, and mothers and foals. The horses are exquisitely drawn. I can tell the artist put a lot of thought into the detail of every picture. The back of each coloring sheet is black, which prevents your markers from bleeding through. Markers, gel pens, and colored pencils will work great with this coloring book.

Lots of easy, relaxing, equine fun in this 8.5×11 inch coloring book. This would make an excellent gift for the artistic youngster that is a bit enamored with horses. An adult horse lover most likely will also enjoy coloring these spirited equines with fantasy décor. This would also be an ideal book for the beginning colorist or even someone with slightly impaired vision. All of the lines are clearly defined, and some are quite bold. Some of the illustrations are vertical on the page, and some are horizontal. Most do not have backgrounds. This gives the colorist the opportunity to create a unique personal style background or no background is needed if that is one’s preference. There are profile pictures, single animal and group pictures. There are quite a few mare and foal images. Some of the horses are galloping, some reclining and two have wings. WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THIS BOOK: `The cover picture is included. This is a definite plus for me because I frequently buy a coloring book (sight unseen) solely because I like the cover illustration/picture. Many are just the head and/or upper body, but quite a few are whole body images. `One to a page images. `Clearly defined lines with no guesswork as to what you are coloring. `The majority of the illustrations are easy; however, a few are more detailed and a bit time consuming. `Colored pencils, gel pens, brush markers all work well. I did not try water colors or regular markers. I think those might be less desirable on this paper. `The paper is lightweight, but is not really problematic. I did not have bleed-through; however, my gel pens and brush markers did leave slight shadows. No problem, ‘cause I had my blotter page under the coloring page. `The spine is glued and the pages are bound straight and evenly cut. `A few of the pictures have a slight grayscale additive. I love this because I am somewhat addicted to grayscale coloring.

I think this is a fun coloring book for adults. I did notice it has the same image in it twice. Other than that, it has good pages. I do wish it had perforated edges so it could be pulled out of the coloring book without tearing.

Mind...Blown. This is a HUGE must, no... a total necessity for any horse enthusiasts to own of any age, or coloring experience. This book is filled with just utterly amazing and makes all other coloring books look caetoonish. I've been involved with horses since I was little, and have literally seen towards five hundred thousand pictures of horse coloring and this is far by my favorite. I don't give out 5 stars easily when it comes to art work, especially as I have also been collecting digital art mostly fanasty and surrealism. I love the possibilities that comes with this book or any of her books of horses for the matter, it's detailed enough to impress, but not so detailed that it mirco manages your every move. So if you are reading this, please... do the universe a big favor and stop reading and hit that add to cart button. Whether it be for yourself or another... there is no chance of regret . Bonus: Even if the person you buy for has a copy already, they will still have a BIG grin and gush about it. Happy Trails! I should first state two things; I love horses, and I love coloring. I love this book because it is horses all the way through. I also like that there is a selection of drawings that are details that I have enjoyed spending the time coloring. You do want with sharp pencils or thin markers for the detailed drawings. There are other drawings which have larger areas to color with broader markers. I like this because sometimes I just want to finish a picture quickly. The pictures once finished are great I love them. The pictures are just on one side of the paper so if the marker bleeds through it is not a problem. I do use a spare sheet of paper to catch any major blotting but that is because I like to use markers. The book is a soft backed book that can easily be folded or rolled up. I love this I will look to get another volume once this is finished.

Comprei o livro após um review que assisti no youtube. Nele ficou visível que o material era muito bom. Porém, quando recebi este livro fiquei extremamente decepcionada, pois se trata de um livrinho simples, impresso em folha A4 normal. Achei que viria em papel com maior gramatura, próprio para colorir com lápis de cor, canetinhas, etc, ainda mais em se tratando de um livro importado e caríssimo. A única coisa positiva são os desenhos que são maravilhosos. Decepcionada, não vale metade do preço que paguei. Se pudesse, devolvia, mas tive que retirar o plástico para ver o livro.

Schon das Cover fühlt sich super an. Die Seiten sind einfach bedruckt was wirklich ideal ist vom durchdrucken her. Papier finde ich nicht zu dünn und die Motive sind wirklich wunderschön. Der Wechsel von mal einfacheren Motiven bis zu anspruchsvolleren ist super so wird es nicht langweilig. Die Anzahl der Motive im Buch ist auch nicht zu wenig und somit absolut sein Geld wert.
