I'm a little paranoid when it comes to security and although I have never had an issue with mail theft that I am aware of, I really don't want to. Other reviewers have mentioned that this mailbox is very sturdy, and they are not kidding. It is very strong and straightforward to install. I actually ordered mine from desertcart warehouse deals, and it was in great condition, etc, and the packaging was great. I can't actually tell if anything is wrong or missing. I live in a big city and have limited outside space, and while this is a bigger mailbox, it isn't so big that it is weird or sticks out. It is only marginally bigger than most, but certainly big enough for a couple days worth of mail. I installed mine into brick. It took me a while (has nothing to do with the mailbox itself) and I burned through a few masonry bits before I got the idea down. Get a good bit for a few bucks, and then drill SLOWLY with a hammer drill, constantly stopping and wetting the drill bit to cool it down. I put water into the hole I was drilling for good measure as well. Another reviewer mentioned tapcon screws - I think this would have worked for me if I hadn't melted through the proper sized masonry bit, but I ended up using nails with metal sleeves that expanded in the hole when hammered in. If I were to do it again with my knowledge now, I would have gone with either the tapcon screws or 1/4 bolts with lag shields (requires 1/2 in hole if you go this method), then if neither of those worked, I would do it with the sleeve nails (cant remember what they are called at the moment). Once I figured out how to get out from under myself with the mounting method, it was easy. Caulked around the holes with some silicone for water penetration avoidance, and the rest was cake. Like I said, the mailbox itself is fantastic. It is surprisingly difficult to find a quality, side loading mailbox (to avoid small hands or tongs pulling out mail). I do wish that this had some sort of baffle in it, but I think that would be a little difficult to pull off with a city mailbox that isn't huge. Review: Solidly made. - Solid and well made. Easy to install. I really like the feel of this mailbox. When you close the door you get a solid feeling. It's like closing a luxury car door instead of a compact car door. I measured the painted metal thickness at 0.060". The lock feels study and the paint is good quality. Spacers are provided for installing on wood siding so that the box sitting vertical instead of angled with the wood siding. I decided on the Mail Boss Metro and I could not be happier. The mailbox was well-packed and definitely looks and feels well-made. The bronze color is a rich, dark brown with a light bronze glow. The color reminds me of how my copper gutters look after they have naturally tarnished over the years. The mailbox probably holds 4-6 days worth of mail, depending on how much daily mail you get. It is easy to install if you know how to use a cordless drill (and you should.) The mailbox comes with everything you need to install into wood, but it does not have what you need to install into brick or concrete. I spent about $2.25 on five Tapcon concrete screws (made for installing into masonry.) Then, I got out my 5/32" masonry drill bit which is 3-1/2" long (if you don't have one, they cost around $6.00.) Pro tip: Just use a concrete drill bit that matches the same sized concrete screws that you buy. The directions included in the box are very easy to follow and are in English and also in French. After measuring and marking where I wanted to drill, I used my cordless drill to hang the hanging bracket on the brick wall. After that was secure, I was able to hang the mailbox and mark the hole(s) and then remove the mailbox to drill the hole(s). (There are 3 holes inside the 18 lbs. mailbox to screw to the wall. I only used the center hole because, honestly, it's overkill with 3 holes. So, I ended up only using 3 Tapcon screws, not 5.) As many people have said in their review, the mailbox does not hang flat against the wall because there is a hanging bracket on the back of the mailbox. The reason they put the bracket on the back is so this can remain a one-person installation. If there was no bracket, this would be a two-person job. Anyhow, the small gap at the back of the box (space between the box and the brick wall) is unnoticable once the mailbox is securely hung. I didn't bother with the attachable red flag or use the house numbers (included in the packaging.)
