## Description

GVODE Food Processor

Review: Excellent product - Great gor grinding sausage and hamburger meat. Run them through twice
Review: Game Changer - I love this food grinder attachment. There are a lot of options out there but for the money this one seems like a great value. Its small but is very powerful. It has no problem grinding larger strips of meat. I mainly use it to grind my trimmings from my large primal cuts of meat. I havent used the sausage or meatball attachments yet but they seem to be high quality like the rest of the grinder is.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Impressed, but with an updated caveat.

July 12, 2021 update; For my first usage, I used the 'sausage stuffing' grinder plate with cubed meat, and ground it directly into the casing. Worked pretty well. Now I've used with already-ground pork to stuff a sausage. What an unholy mess. At first, with my ground meat nearly frozen, things went well, though slowly. Unfortunately, as the meat warmed up, it began to squoosh around the pusher, and it became VERY difficult to make any progress at all. After a lot of work, lot of sweat, and not very much sausage to show for it, I decided to pack it in. For good. After I vacuum sealed the remaining sausage meat and put that in the freezer, and cleaned up the equipment, I placed an order for a LEM sausage stuffer. This food grinder attachment is reasonably well made for a low-end product. It CANNOT go into the dishwasher, or the tinning will come off. The pusher rod is too narrow for the grinder throat, so ground meat that isn't frozen will ooze up around the pusher. The grind plates are stamped metal, not machined. They work, but the stamping process leaves enough imperfections that they don't mate well with the grinding blades, which leads to excessive, uneven wear in both parts. I'm a bit disappointed that using ground meat was such a disaster, but still feel this device was worth the purchase price. It did very well grinding up cubed meat and stuffing sausage in one process, and it works well for grinding meat and vegetables. Oh, and someone told me those mysterious black plastic parts are for making churros. I know what those are from seeing them for sale at Costco, but no clue how to make them. Perhaps I'll find out... This product worked flawlessly with my Kitchen-Aid stand mixer - an older model in the smaller size range. It sat solidly in the appliance fitting, and - frankly - appears to be a much better choice than the plastic grinder attachment made by Kitchen-Aid. I've used this product now to make link sausage, and can speak to how well it performed in that capacity. The unboxing - I was surprised at how MANY parts fit into the very small package it came in (Hint: remember the layout if you expect to put those parts back into that box between uses!). In examining the parts, I found them to be all metal, albeit very lightweight metal, with the exception of the pusher, which was plastic, and two black plastic parts that I have yet to figure out the purpose of. There were three very lightweight grind plates (fine, coarse, and sausage-stuffer), two blades, three metal sausage stuffer tubes in various sizes, the screw, throat, and tray. A very lightweight brush was included, as well as an EXTREMELY brief user guide. First use - my first use of this product was to make link sausages. The seller could have done a better job of describing some needed lubrication prior to use, but in fairness, it seems they assume that if you're stuffing sausages, you already know what to do. I looked at nearly a hundred YouTube vids that coached you on how to use a stand mixer meat grinder attachment, but missed the one that mentioned you needed to lubricate that nylon collar at the back of the screw. Mine squealed a bit (quite loudly, too) until the pork fat migrated to the rear of the screw and provided some lubrication. Other than that, the device worked VERY well. At first it was a bit tricky to keep feeding meat into the throat with one hand while with the other managing the flow of ground meat into the casing to ensure it was properly filled, but after a little practice it became much easier. It would be easier, though, to have two people - one to add the meat to the throat, the other to focus on filling the casings. The metal stuffer tube worked VERY well - the casing slid forward easily as it was filled; I've seen several instances where those who had plastic tubes found the casings would 'stick' to the tube, making it more difficult to manage as you work. I think in most cases, making sure the tube is lubricated with either water or a food-grade oil would mitigate that condition. In my case, I made sure the casings were saturated with water before I slid them on, and kept them wet as I worked. As a result, after all the prep that went into making sausages, actually stuffing them went so quickly it seemed almost anticlimactic. General Impressions - The user guide needs work. While it does caution you the parts are NOT dishwasher safe (and they really aren't!), it does little to inform you on usage/care/maintenance, nor does it even mention the mysterious black plastic parts. It looks like it could form a giant macaroni tube, but my guess is that it's for already ground meat, though just how it is used would be nice to know. It would also be helpful to know how to lubricate the parts prior to use; that nylon bushing at the back end of the screw, for example. Also (and this may be a little nit-picky), a mention of how tightening down the collar impacts the device would have been nice. The collar is what determines how much pressure (and therefore friction and heat build-up) is placed on the knife as it rotates next to the chosen grind plate. Too loose, and the knife won't cut up the meat properly, and it gets mangled and torn more than cut as it passes through the plate, and you could have meaty-fatty paste oozing out instead of ground meat. Too tight puts excessive pressure and wear on the knife, and makes your grinder work way too hard to turn the screw. A balance of sorts is needed, and the seller/manufacturer could easily have called that out for newbies. Oh, and that included brush? Other than cleaning the inside of the stuffer tubes, it is too light-weight to be of any practical use for cleaning other parts. Use a stiff bottle brush for cleaning the throat and screw. In general, though, I feel this device was an excellent value for the money. I don't expect to get years of use from it, but it allowed me to try my hand at making link sausage without having to spend a great deal. Now that I know more, I can take the steps to help extend it's useful life a bit longer. When it eventually wears out I'll know better what types of equipment to replace it with.
