I got it for my daughter's 13th birthday. I did not have them assemble it and took care of doing that myself. It was not a big deal to do since I have a mat cutter. I would imagine it might be a little trickier to do without one because it might be kind of hard to get the lines and cut out perfectly straight. I also used Elmer's Spray on Glue to attach it to a piece of mat board, which made it way easier to not get any kind of bubbling up.Working with the company was very easy. I had questions and they got back to me very quickly.
