I find that mountain bike chains, because they need to flex over a wide rear cassette, are less robust. In addition, they take more sudden torque than a road bike or gravel bike, so they break. These spares are easy to carry and a quick fix when you're miles out in the middle of nowhere.

These are super-easy to fix a chain and should be kept on a bike, just in case. I find that mountain bike chains, because they need to flex over a wide rear cassette, are less robust.
