Primary purpose is to ensure visibility to cars (hence the amber color), additional lighting is a primary concern. On both fronts they exceed expectations. Shipped with the lights is a small wiring harness, including battery connectors and an on/off switch. I disregarded all of that and plugged them into my hex EZcan -- works like a charm, including dimming.
