It is really quite amazing (as is Dr. Morse, if you watch his videos). The book is an incredible resource, best read a few pages at a time. Want to know which foods have the most manganese? Absolutely Life Changing!
I considered myself a pretty healthy person. Tried to avoid sugar and ate what I considered a healthy diet. In my 40's I noticed discomfort with eating red meat, so I would avoid it now and then. I mostly ate a low carb high protein diet of chicken, eggs and fish, veggies. A little fruit. But later in my late 40's as I began going thru some pre-menopausal stages, I noticed a big difference in my body reacting badly when I ate any form of meat. I would get a very bloated tummy, or at the least I would crash after these kinds of meals. I started to think this high protein diet wasn't working out so well, and remembered this book a friend of mine recommended to me months prior. He himself had cured his own cancer by only eating raw fruits and veggies. I decided I needed to detox and bought this book. So much has changed! Previously I wasn't consuming much fruit, as I was under the impression it would make me gain weight. I had to take handfuls of vitamins just to keep my nails... But now I eat fruit for breakfast and lunch or a snack later in the day.. and I eat salads for lunch and dinner.... I have gone completely VEGAN and I FELL GREAT!!! Within the first 2 weeks I lost 6 pounds and have kept it off so far. (I am going on 4 weeks now...) My nails are crazy long and strong, and my skin is so clear! My co-workers started noticing right away. No more tummy troubles, no more crashing and needing naps after my meals. I have consistent energy that lasts all day! So I currently eat no meat or meat products, careful with my breads and starchy veggies, and eat lots of fruits, veggies and salads. Gave up coffee too, and so far so good. I never want to go back. I feel much more aware and in tune... I feel like I see things more clearly. It was obvious in the past I took for granite all the meat that I ate... Disconnected from the actual source. The rest of my family is not Vegan, so I still have to cook for them their way of eating, but I look at meat completely differently now. I don't think it is wrong to eat meat, but I do think people who choose to consume it should be more thankful for the life that was given. I do believe people who eat meat would be much more healthy if they ate less of it! When it comes to food choices, I'm just at a point in my life where I can completely live without meat and be happier than I have ever been before. The healthy food choices out there are amazing and I crave all the good produce available... I have many great books on nutrition and health, but this book by far is the best book I have ever come across! I highly recommend to all!

Fabulous Comprehensive Guide Book to Vitality and Health
Puts all the pieces of the puzzle together. Provides descriptive inner workings of the body, it’s organs and systems for overall understanding. It’s the only book I’ve read by a doctor that includes a clear spirituality element and guidance on the inner workings of emotional well-being and health. Clear and informative layout of beneficial herbal tinctures and how they support the body. Includes basics to get started on either a raw food diet or cooked food for beginning the detox journey. As well as habits and additional tools you can apply to support detoxing for every day life. Overall well written book. Highly recommend. As mentioned in other reviews the beginning can be dull because it’s packed with info regarding the physical body and how it works. He does say you can skip that part if you like. Although, I gained valuable understanding from reading through it and found that helpful when reading the rest of the book. And I did not find it too technical to read as others have mentioned.

... always looking for ways to keep myself in the best internal shape possible
After having gone THRU cancer I am always looking for ways to keep myself in the best internal shape possible. After listening to some of Dr. Morse YouTube videos I thought the book would be a helpful thing to have on hand. Easy read & some helpful new information for me. I have been working to get my digestion back on track for over 3 years but have stayed clear of fruits, except berries, because of the sugar content. I am not going to go all raw nor all fruit but it did open some new options for helping get a better handle on digestive issues for me. Very happy to have found Dr. Morse & his information regarding the science of it all. GOOD 'food' for thought.

The True Manual of Self-Healing
In my humble opinion, this book should serve as your foundational manual for how to thoroughly heal and regenerate the physical, mental and emotional bodies of any health-complaint. The author [Dr. Morse] does well in explaining the art and science of true detoxification. Just some of the many things this book takes you through include: * Basic anatomy and physiology * The various body systems (respiratory system, endocrine gland system etc.) * Explains the various constituents that make up our foods (vitamins, minerals, tissue salts, acids, alkaloids, tannins, enzymes, etc.), as well as illuminating the protein myth and exploring the root causes of dis-ease. You'll be educated on one of the most misunderstood phases of getting well as you dig deeper into the body in order to detoxify, namely, the 'Healing Crisis'. A phase that can last anywhere from a couple of hours to several weeks. This, in many cases, is the body's greatest opportunity to purge and cleanse itself. Anything can happen during the healing crisis - and it is thus important for the individual to be prepared in case it happens. The book contains brief introductory overviews of noeable therapeutic modalities that could prove very benefical to practitioners and clients alike. As will also be noted, Dr. Morse has an affinity toward the botanical kingdom and use of herbs for restoration of health. If you expect a book chuck full of color pictures, then this one may not be for you. Robert Morse schließt die Lücke, die seit der Erfindung der modernen Schulmedizin (beabsichtigt?) offen gelassen wird. Jedes Mal, wenn du einen Arzt fragst, und was ist die Ursache davon? Entweder wird er dir sagen, ein Organ oder eine Körperfunktion hat ein Problem oder er weiß es nicht. Doch ein Symptom als Ursache für ein anderes Symptom zu nennen, ergibt dasselbe. Er weiß es nicht. Und es ist nicht seine Schuld, er hat viel geopfter, um das zu lernen, was der etablierte Bildungsstandard vorgibt. Man müsste sich mehr fragen, wer eigentlich diesen Bildungsstandard vorgegeben hat, wer hat entschieden, was in den Medizinbüchern drinsteht und was nicht? Genau diese Lücke im Bildungsstandard ist es, dass uns "bewusstlos" leiden lässt. Wir haben einfach keine Ahnung, wie Nahrung verstoffwechselt wird. Und hier räumt Robert Morse gründlich auf. Er liefert das Wissen, welches fundamentaler Bestandteil des aktuellen Bildungsstandards in der Medizin sein sollte. Unser Ego ist die Einkapselung eines Teilbewusstseins. Je kleiner die Kapsel, desto ego-zentrierter die Sichtweise. Erst wenn wir das Bewusstsein in so weit erweitern, dass wir verstehen, dass wir nicht unsere Gedanken sind, sondern, dass wir ein Einheit eines größeren "Organismus" sind (in dieser iridischen Welt) und dass unsere Körperzellen genauso Hunger haben, wie unser Ego, der Bock auf eine Pizza hat, dann können wir durch Empathie für unsere Körperzellen Entscheidungen treffen, die wahrhaftig symbiotisch auf allen Ebenen mit der Natur und des Lebens sind. Good health.
Love Dr. MORSE. Living in Canada makes it difficult to follow a raw food diet. However Dr. Morse does give excellent advice on how to improve your health. Fresh food is where you get all your vitamins and minerals. Fruits are the cleansers of the body. I believe strongly in his message.
