Great tools at a great price

Review: Form and Function - Perfect! - My electric bike was stolen from my backyard. The thieves jumped my locked gate, went through the side gate then took the bike from a closed storage shed. I had thought about an alarm system but had put it off due to cost. Well, my Ring kit (5-piece) cost a heck of a lot less than my replacement bike - lesson learned. On to my review... I purchased the 5-piece refurbished Ring system. I've always had great luck with desertcart's refurbished electronics. Added was an Outdoor Gate Sensor and an Outdoor Blink Camera (I already have a Blink doorbell). The setup was pretty simple - I just took my time and followed the guides. The look of the components is modern and clean. I incorporated the base unit into one of my gallery walls. The ring changes color so I always know the state of the system and it looks cool. I included the keypad as part of a vignette by my front door. The door sensors are mounted toward the top of each door frame and pretty much blend in. I chose not to install window sensors for now. I have manual window locks because of my A/C system. I've tested the siren (it's in the base unit) and it is super loud - very effective. Arming and disarming the system from the app, Alexa, and the keypad is very simple. All systems are a go LOL! I'll be installing the gate sensor today but have already tested it and it works great. There is a range extender included but it looks like I won't need it. It would be nice if Ring would include a template to wall mount the base unit. The mounting holes on the back are pretty awkward to work with. I used Gorilla Tape to mount it rather than messing with the screw mount. I haven't decided on a subscription plan yet so I'm self-monitoring for now. Yard signs are available separately, which I'll be purchasing as an additional deterrent.

**Q: I have a gen 1 ring alarm.  are the new gen 2 components compatible with a gen 1 base station?**
A: Yes. All Alarm sensors are dually compatible with both generations of Ring Alarm.

**Q: Will this work with Google Home/Nest?**
A: As of October 2020 when I checked online, it does now support Google Home.

**Q: Are the keypad, motion sensor and contact sensor backwards compatible?  I have a gen 1 system. Will these sensors and keypads work with my system?**
A: Yes. All Alarm sensors are dually compatible with both generations of Ring Alarm.

**Q: Can this system be used in a motor home? With wifi**
A: Yes, there are 2 ways that this can work. If you purchase 24/7 monitoring, you will have cell backup and if you have your own wifi, then it will work with that with or without professional monitoring.

I love this ring alarm kit it came with everything I needed to feel more secure in my home with my kids for the starter packet. Easy setup I bought this in a bundle with a front door camera and indoor camera. The motion detection is on point never misses a beat. The alarm siren is very loud as well and definitely worth buying in a kit.
