Each stair material will require appropriate fasteners. For granite, I'd suggest using 5/16" threaded studs epoxied into the granite. Joe **Q: Does it matter what the rise on the stairs is whether it’s 7 inches or 7 1/2 inches will it still work or is it adjustable** A: It would not matter the product provides a way for you to adjust/ compensate. The lower leg is deliberately longer than it needs to be, you will need to measure/ level, cut with a hack saw, then anchor the rail do that it matches your stairs correctly. The instructions in the package are pretty good if I recall also.
