Our three-year-old twins were having a tough time going to sleep at night and not waking up scared of the dark, even in the presence of a nightlight so my husband and I wanted to find a nice, soothing light that would give off enough light without keeping them awake at night. We previously owned a ladybug night light and loved that but it only stayed on for about 40 minutes at a time and ran out of batteries very quickly. I came across this lamp and really liked the idea that it stays on all night, which provides soothing star projections for our kids, hopefully allowing my husband and me to get uninterrupted sleep every once in awhile! We decided to purchase the purple lamp but you can also currently choose to buy blue or pink. This lamp is powered either by a USB cable or you can use four AAA batteries, which aren't included. Luckily, we already had a DVD player in our twins' room that has a USB port so we've been using that instead of the batteries. Considering we leave this on all night, I really like the option of using the USB cable so we aren't going through a lot of batteries. I'm not sure how many people have this option but I feel this product would be better if it came with a standard outlet plug which you would then plug into any electrical outlet. This lamp has four LED bead lights in blue, green, red, and soft white. There are three buttons on the front of the lamp and you can adjust the many settings for the stars. Button A turns on and off the soft white light. Button B turns on all combinations of lights, including gradual fading lights. Button C slowly spins the dome so the stars and moon move around on the walls and ceiling. You can have one, two, or all three buttons pressed down for your preferred settings.This lamp measures approximately five and a half inches tall and five inches in diameter. We've had this lamp for three months and we really like it! When I initially opened the package, I was a bit disappointed because the product feels cheaply made and I was afraid that my little Tasmanian devils would destroy it very quickly. Surprisingly, they don't really play with it and it's holding up great, even though the dome with the moon and stars feels flimsy. The colors project nicely but the shapes of the stars and moon aren't very clear and look pretty blurry on the ceiling but my kids don't seem to care. Against a wall that's close to the lamp, the stars are a bit clearer but across the room they look like small dots of color, which is fine since our main goal was to get our kids something to soothe them at night. We haven't noticed any noises when the lamp is rotating but we also don't use that function too often. I've included a couple pictures with this review so you can see what the product looks like and what the colors look like on the walls and ceiling. Overall, we are pleased with this purchase and feel it is well-worth the money we spent on it. For the price, it does a good job of projecting colorful stars and a moon on our twins' bedroom ceiling and walls and even though the stars are blurry, we are all happy with it. I am glad we have a USB port nearby otherwise we would be going through a lot of batteries with how much we use it but I think this product would be better with a standard outlet plug so everyone could easily use this. Still, it's lasted us three months already and we have had no problems with it. My mom is even interested in purchasing one for herself just for soothing lights on her ceiling and walls as she goes to sleep. This is working really well for us and I'd recommend it as a lamp for helping to soothe children at night or for anyone who doesn't like to sleep in complete darkness. This lamp has allowed my husband and me to sleep through the night and that, in and of itself, is priceless!

I got this & another of these little Night Light lamps for my 2 daughters as Christmas gifts. One with the blue base & the other with the purple base. I really like the fact that it has a few different options for powering it including the USB wire included with the lamp. My favorite being the battery option though which makes this totally portable especially since the other night we had an electrical power outage in our area & because we had batteries in the 2 Night Light Lamps we turned these on & we all enjoyed the beautiful colorful lights in our living room while we waited for the power outage to be fixed. I must say that these lights are so pretty lit up with the moon & stars designs projected all over the room. I am truly impressed & my daughters really love these Night Lighting Lamps....they really surpassed my expectations!!! The only thing I am a bit confused about is how exactly to turn it off since apparently to do so you must press some combination of the A, B & C buttons which I have done but I am still not sure the exact combination I used. I just basically tried pressing them until it turned off. I know the A & B buttons control some color modes & the C button controls the rotation, so I pressed that to stop the rotation & then I was able to press the A & B buttons until it turned off. I will have to pay better attention next time so I get it down. I think an On/Off Switch & a timer setting would make this Night Light Lamp perfect, but even the way it is now, we are extremely happy with it & we love all the beautiful color combinations of moons & stars there are by pressing the buttons....it's super-cool!!!!! I very highly recommend!!!!

For the price and the amount of enjoyment my 2 kids get out of it as a nightlight, I would have rated this 4.5 stars (5 stars if the stars used clearer plastic). Why the 3 stars? Well, one of the 2 globes I purchased (in June) stopped rotating a month after purchase, and the other one (bought in Feb) just stopped rotating today. I'm listening to my 2 year old complain about the lack of rotation on the baby monitor as I write this. These are kept on a small shelf mounted high on a wall where no kids can abuse them, so it is definitely a defective motor. I took one apart and it looks like the brushes on the motor wore out. I can get it to spin again if I manually twist the shaft of the motor a little, but it will not turn again the next time I turn it on. I run them on a timer for 8 hours a day to reduce wear and tear. With a little math, I calculate that got about 1500 hours before the first one failed, and 250 hours before the 2nd one failed. 1500 hours is pretty decent for the price, but I was a bit disappointed by 250 hour failure. Now, on to the review: PROS: * Uses minimal power, so will not cost a lot to power as a nightlight. * Bright enough to be a nightlight, but not so bright that it is distracting. * Motor was quiet enough on both units to not interrupt sleep (very soft whirring noise). * The 5 leds are spaced far enough apart where it makes a neat effect when the globe is rotating (like a portal). * Despite being very light weight and "fragile feeling", the globe is pretty resilient. My son managed to put a big dent in one of them before I could mount it out of reach, and it popped back out without trouble. CONS: * Stars are a little blurred, but I cannot expect them to be too much sharper without optics that would add a good chunk to the price. * Motors failed on both (one after decently heavy use). I'd be more than happy to pay an extra $5 or so to get a more reliable motor. The motor appears to be a standard CD player or DVD player motor, so I may try to swap one of them as an experiment. * LEDs are propped up by their leads with no additional support, so a child could bend them enough to break if they are not supervised. It's debatable whether this is really a CON (kids should probably not be playing with this directly), but I feel it would have been simple to add a little plastic for support.

The MOKOQI Star Projector Night Light is amazing! It creates a magical starry sky right in the room, and my kids absolutely love it. The colors are vibrant, and the different lighting modes make bedtime fun and relaxing. It’s easy to use, safe, and perfect for kids of all ages. Definitely a fun and thoughtful gift — highly recommend!

This was a gift for my boyfriend. I got the purple shell for him. He has told everyone time after time, "my girlfriend got me the BEST present ever" and begins to explain the device. 1. This device comes with a cover, don't forget you need to take the cover off to use it/see the stars 2. The stars can rotate, or be kept still by the push of a button. 3. There are MANY different color combinations that can be used. 4. This device seems to be one of few that DOES NOT have an auto-shut-off timer. The shut-off timers freaked me out a little bit when purchasing because it made me think the device got too hot after a certain point and may cause a fire. This device we have left on overnight pretty much every night and there have been no problems. We shut it off the moment we wake up in the morning and it stays off all day. 5. This device needs to be used in a dark room if you want to see all the stars. That being said, it makes an excellent night light. It is also "better" in a larger room. The rooms we have used it in are about 15x10 (which covered ceiling and walls), and ~30x15 (with slants in the room which covered the entire ceiling). The projection from the device is amazing. 6. There are 3 moons. This kind of freaked us out upon initial usage, but it's actually pretty cool. When in motion, everything rotates in a pattern. 7. There is a small motor that makes slight white noise. I would describe it as when you wind up a music box and you're waiting for the music to start. You are just hearing the gears working. My boyfriend is an electrical engineer, so we actually find comfort in the sound. 8. FYI, my boyfriend has even dropped it upon unplugging it from the wall and moving it and it's still functioning fine, bulbs, motor, and all. If anything did happen to the device, it seems relatively fixable (again, my boyfriend is handy and an EE so the parts in this device are things he works with on a regular basis, and he was even talking about making his own). I highly recommend this purchase. I'm hoping this device lasts while but I am considering purchasing a back up to keep in storage because of how much he loves this star lamp.

Let me start by saying I did NOT get a discount in exchange for an honest review, unlike many reviewers of this item (yes, that makes me suspicious - particularly of why the manufacturer sent out so many at a discount.) It's small, light, and creates very pretty images on my daughter's wall and ceiling. We haven't had it long so I can't speak for durability yet. I was surprised to find that the globe is soft plastic (like blister packaging) so I worry about her poking it or something falling on it. We'll see. The biggest downside is that you can't set a default; We bought this because my daughter is having trouble getting to (and staying) asleep at night. I was looking for a cute table-top night light but this came up in my search and my daughter was in awe. Had we gone with a night light I would have let it run all night, but this seemed too busy. We knew it didn't have an automatic shutoff so we purchased a timer to go with it. The theory was that we'd set the timer to go off about 30 minutes after she fell asleep and if she woke up in the middle of the night she could turn it back on by flicking the switch to override the timer (at five, she knows all about these things :)). Unfortunately, there are many, many settings (different colors and combinations of colors via one button) and the settings do not remain as a default. She wants ALL the colors on, but when the device is turned off and back on, it comes back to just gold (so she has to push the first button about six times). The rotation does remain the default, thankfully. I also found it annoying that not only does this not have an auto-shutoff, it doesn't come with a power supply. They're halfway there with the USB cable. Currently, we're borrowing the adapter from my phone charger and we have a second adapter on order. With the addition of the timer and the USB adapter, this cost over $40. I would recommend that the next gneration include these features and sell for $29.99. I'd pay that and feel okay. This is probably a 3.5 star device, but of course I can't give halves, so I threw in a half a star for some great corrupted English in the product description. UPDATE: I've reduced my rating from 4 stars to 2. Major quality issues with these. This first one lasted a couple years. Got louder over time but not unbearable until this past summer, at which point we bought a replacement. The replacement was a different "brand" although it looked exactly the same (hmmm). The rotation was a bit buzzy. It lasted three months before the white light went out. Soon after it became impossible to turn off green without unplugging it. Back to buy #3, from this previous presumably different, manufacturer. Stars were fewer and less sharp so we replaced the filter with the one we were throwing out. Nice and quiet for about a week. Then louder, and louder. Now each night it slows down and makes terrible grinding noises after a couple hours. My husband is hoping he can grease it - has asked me to buy another so he can rotate while each is in the shop. At least the price has come down, but for the quality they ought to be $5.
