## Overview

The B52 Giant Venus Flytrap is a live, actively growing carnivorous plant available in various sizes, shipped in a robust 3.75 inch pot. Perfect for plant enthusiasts looking to add a unique touch to their indoor or outdoor spaces.

## Description

You will receive either 1 large sized B52 Venus Fly Trap, 2 medium sized B52 Venus Flytraps, or 3 live small sized B52 Giant Venus Flytrap Plants. The plants will be appropriately sized to fill a 3.75 inch net pot. The B52 is a giant clone that makes traps 1.75 inches across when fully grown. It is one of the largest, if not the largest, giant Venus Flytrap clones. B52s are all the same plant. They are all genetically identical. Your B52s come with a 3.75 inch net pot, moss appropriate for carnivorous plant soil loosely packed, and a full page detailed caresheet, written by an experienced Venus Flytrap grower specifically designed for beginners, explaining how to take care of Venus Flytraps. All you will need is a bowl or saucer to hold the Venus Flytraps' pot that it comes with and a little bit of water, a gallon or so of reverse osmosis or distilled water, and a sunny window or a place in the yard to put your Venus Flytraps' pot in. Humidity domes and year round warm weather are not necessary. Don't be fooled by other offers for Venus Flytraps that have them arrive in or with terrariums or humidity domes. These type of plants have strong light requirements and it is a myth that they need high humidity. The truth is that Venus Flytrap setups with terrariums or humidity domes almost always cause these types of plants to eventually die. They need to be grown in open air with containers that allow air to get into their soil and there should be little to block or diffuse their lighting. Venus Flytraps take about 2-3 years from seed to reach a decent size. A kit with Venus Flytrap seeds is not going to quickly turn into a Venus Flytrap about the size of the one offered in this listing. A beginner new to Venus Flytraps should be aware that if Venus Flytrap seeds are bought, even with a kit, that it will take at least 2 1/2 to 3 years, assuming it is grown correctly, to reach the size of the Venus Flytraps offered in this listing.

Review: Beautiful! Follow the instructions! Thriving for 4 years now! - These are awesome! After about 6 weeks of having these they have doubled in size. I've placed a couple orders and they were both great. The first order was a bit thin, but over a few weeks filled in beautifully. It seems they started out a but stressed but if you follow Joel's instructions to the letter, they will take off and do great. My second order was even better - looked awesome and still are doing great. It is really not a tough plant to grow - they just need very very specific conditions. I would suggest getting some of Joel's bigger net pots and moss to put them in. They look better with a bit of space. Joel is also great with questions. But just as he suggests - read his instructions and follow them to the letter! He really cares about his customers and takes time to make sure everything is perfect - but you have to follow the care instructions! Attached is a pic of when they arrived and about 5 weeks later. Awesome - just love them! Update: I bought these 4 years ago and they continue to grow and multiply (see last pic - and Ive given some away as they have baby plans quite a bit). I was concerned that VFT's need to go dormant every year but that process seemed tricky so I just let mine keep growing. I have separated them and repotted them a couple times as they get really dense. They are really very hardy when they get going. Just again use only distilled water, plastic pots that allow air (like the net pots) and water from bottom. Mine get afternoon sun on my Lanai. I never feed them, they seem to catch food fine on their own. I think they key is just water them with distilled water, give them sun and leave them alone. My even catch a baby lizard from time to time.
Review: Great Plants! - I ordered a small 3 pack of VFTs from Joel a month or two ago and they're taking off and overfilling the net pot. Since I had a great experience last time, I figured to jump in and get some more plants from him. I was not disappointed. The plant is a good size and very healthy. I planted it, as per the written and video instructions, and set them in a tray with water. I buy my bottled drinking water from the Dollar General. It's their in-house brand. Luckily, it's exactly what I need for the plants. 2 birds, 1 stone. I checked the water analysis from the bottler's site and it's 0ppm of TDS (Total Dissolved Solids). If you use bottled water, just make sure it is purified (Reverse Osmosis) WITHOUT added minerals (a lot of them do that--check the fine print), or just get distilled water. I feed my traps (you don't have to, but it's why we have them!) once or twice a month, depending if all of the traps are open. I feed 1 or 2 traps per plant at a time. They've been getting frozen/thawed bloodworms (I feed those to my African Clawed Frogs, Dwarf Frogs, and Betta fish) and the occasional small cricket (baby Tarantula food). These traps got a bloodworm last night. I see bad reviews from people and all I can think is that they aren't following the provided instructions or checking out Joel's (or anyone else's videos) on the proper care. I am a plant killer. Always have been. I am keeping these alive and thriving after watching Joel's and other reputable Carnivorous Plant Youtube channels, along with a lot of research. It's not hard at all. I am not buying that they were sent dead or dying plants. I got plants within a few days of some of the reviews and they were perfect. I will be buying more plants from Joel. I will also be copy/pasting this review for another plant I bought at the same time because I can't think of anything different to say about it. The thing in the brown pot is an experiment from Lowe's "The Bug Biting Plant Kit." I don't have high hopes for it, lol.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How many flies can they consume a month?**
A: I haven't actually fed them flies. I use freeze dried blood worms. A few ha e opened up every day or two but it's not necessary to feed them all every time they open. The flies or worms are more like fertilizer. The distilled water, webbed basket and tons of sun are the most important thing for them.

**Q: Would it be safe for thenplant to remain in the package an extra day or two? Or should they be potted immediately?**
A: Yes. that will not significantly set them back. But each day they stay in the package they can be set back a little bit more.

**Q: can i leave the plant in the pot it came in for its entire life or do i have to re-pot it?**
A: Eventually they will get too crowded and need to be transferred to a larger pot with sphagnum moss. I sell larger net pot with more sphagnum moss on my Amazon store front BTW.

**Q: Does this eat mosquitos ...? Thanks**
A: Yes but mostly by accident. It doesn't really attract them. If the mosquitoes happen to land on their traps they do often catch them though.

### ⭐ Pretty disappointed
*by F***R on September 1, 2024*

Ordered August 14. Paid extra for expedited shipping since it was a live plant and I wanted to give it the best chance... they shipped it August 15 and arrived August 20. Looked super sad and limp when I opened the package, yellowing, one trap black already, several leaves damaged. There was no damage to the package and it was padded by the included moss. Packaging appeared to be sufficient... so have a feeling it wasn't in great shape before it even left their door. I immediately opened the package and set it up according to the instructions, following every last detail. Photo attached is what it looked like right out of the mail, immediately after I set it up with the included pot and moss, and placed in a bowl of distilled water in a window with lots of sun. Some of the negative reviews here are from people who clearly didn't follow instructions. I'm not one of them. Intelligent person here with lots of varied plant care experience that can also follow directions, FYI. This was going to be a gift for somebody. I ordered it a few weeks in advance because I know it's tricky to mail a live plant, and that it might need some time to perk back up and recover. But it hasn't perked back up. Most of the remaining leaves and traps have one by one also turned black, now as of September 1. So between the plant and the expedited shipping, I spent 40 bucks on a nearly dead plant that will in no way be a presentable gift. Maybe for their birthday... next year. All that said, it's not dead. There are two new leaves/traps emerging. Signs of life yet. I'm going to care for it, and it may recover eventually. Perhaps if I can get it to limp on through it's winter dormancy, I might have a decent plant bounce back next spring. But obviously this purchase missed the mark for my purpose. I had to get a different birthday gift yesterday since this in no way looks like anything I want to give to anyone. Long story short, don't expect it to look anything like the pictures. And don't disregard all the negative reviews - I assumed they were people who couldn't follow instructions - no, many of them have valid complaints you should consider as a potential buyer. Those in the product pictures are happy healthy plants that haven't spent 5 days in a box traveling by trucks. The one you receive might not look anything like those, and you may have a long wait and a lot of plant-care ahead of you to nurse it to a healthy condition. Not a good gift idea. It was better than nothing, but not by much, unfortunately. An interesting plant, I was super excited, but feel super let down. I hope it pulls through so it's not a total waste.
