Due to arthritis, I have limited range of comfortable motion in one leg. These open wide and the Velcro strap is easy for me to reach and open/close. The tongue of the boot is not attached to the shaft of the boot, so they are not waterproof to the top of the boot, but the design seems adequate to keep snow out, which is my primary need. I see several complaints in other reviews about the height of the toe box. Remember there are two orthotic inserts; if you need more height in the toe box, the supplied directions recommend removing the lower insert. I seem to have enough room with both in. I have not had these long enough to rate durability; however, they appear well constructed. Edit: One of the velcro straps wore out within a month or two. I tend to be a little rough with my shoes and bind them tight, but that's still too fast for a $200 shoe so I am dropping the review from 5 stars to 4.
