Review: so handy and easy to use, perfect for mobile control - these smart plugs are honestly brilliant and i use them every single day with my fairy lights plugged in. setup was super quick and easy, i had them connected and working in just a few minutes. i added them as a shortcut on my iphone so i can just tell siri to turn on lights or turn off lights and it works perfectly every time. if i don’t want to use voice control i just open the tapo app and tap a button, which is really simple too. i love all the features. i have them scheduled to turn on automatically in the evening and switch off just before bed, which saves me remembering to do it. the best part is i set it up so they turn on by themselves as soon as i get close to home, it iis nice to come home and be able to see haha. away mode is great too as it turns things on and off randomly to make it look like someone is home when you are out. they feel really well made and solid, great quality and built to last. i have had mine for ages and they work exactly the same as the day i got them, no glitches or connection issues at all. they also have lots of safety protections built in which gives me peace of mind. if you want something easy to use, reliable and packed with features these are absolutely perfect.
Review: Tapo so versatile! - Great love these plugs.once you have the app so easy to install and later add another one. It has so many uses around the home: I have 5 of these on the go at the moment. One is connected to the fridge. Why you may ask the fridge you may ask? Well my old fridge broke down so when I had a new one (full size in height) the men who brought it said it has to be left switched off for 2 hrs. They only problem for me was is that the only plug for the switch was behind it and it was so big and heavy i would not have been able to pull it out by myself. To get behind it and switch the plug on. So i had the idea to install a tapo plug before the men put the fridge in place. I made sure it worked. Then, switched it off. Problem solved, I just turned it on after 2 hrs using my phone via the app and left it switched on. I have another one installed on a standard Lamp where the plug is behind the settee and switch on the lamp itself is very hard to reach. So I just use the tapo plug for that. I have another 2 plugs controlling electric oil fires (saves me heating the whole house) one in the bedroom and one I the lounge. I can for i stance switch the one bedroom on even if i'm out somewhere, so that is warmed up before we get home result! Finally my wife has Alzheimer's, so it tends to get out of bed. The middle of the night. So I have an alarm which goes off and senses. If she does get up while i'm asleep. I also, use a tapo plug to switch that off when I'm moving about the bedroom as the alarm would sound, I can be very annoying as it keeps going unless manually switched off. But the tapo plug does a great rate job allow me to control this. What a great invention!

**Q: can these be used for electric wall heaters**
A: PLEASE DO NOT GUESS!

If you exceed the current rating of the plug you risk it overheating and, ultimately, starting a fire.

Electrical power is essentially P in Watts) = I (current in amps) x V (voltage in volts).  
Given the UK supply is nominally 230VAC and the current capacity of this smartplug is quoted as 13A, the MAXIMUM power rating for the smartplug should be:

13 x 230 = 2,990W = 2.99KW.

[This simple calculation excludes complications such as power factor on inductive or capacitive loads as household heating elements are essentially resistive loads having a power factor of ~1.]
=> a 1KW electric fire should be OK.

Please, people, do NOT guess and, if you don't know for certain, then simply don't comment - it's safer that way - because, if you get this stuff wrong it can be life-affecting!

**Q: Would this support a hot tub ?**
A: No, the weight of a hot tub would be far too much to be supported by the plug as it's only made of plastic, especially if the tub had water in it. You'll need a concrete base instead.

**Q: Do I need to have the tapo app for daily use or can I just download the app to install and then delete the app and use it with Alexa?**
A: You definitely don't need the app for daily use, no. Once you've set the plugs up and added them to Alexa or Google Home (or home assistant) then you can uninstall the app from your phone and just use voice control e.g. "turn on office plug". Schedules also work without your phone once you have set them up whether they are set up in the Tapo app or in Alexa/Google Home/home assistant.

**Q: Is it possible to program a 7 day schedule with varying start and end times per day?**
A: Yes, the app allows detailed scheduling to turn the socket on or off: different times each day and even using an offset from sunrise and sunset. Each on or off is independent so it is also possible to setup a number of times during the day where, for example, the socket will turn off even if there was no on event prior to it. This is useful if you will be manually turning the socket on (using the button on the side) and want to ensure it always turns off at a specific time - such as Xmas lights being turned on when you get home and then the schedule will ensure they are always turned off at 11pm.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Reliable. Easy to set & use

Love these. Used for Xmas lights. This is 3rd one I have purchased. Easy to set up . Easy to set schedules. You can pick different times on/off for every day if you like. First you need to download the app. NB on schedule tab you need to put in times and days to come on. Then times and days to turn off. As two kinda separate lines on the page . And confirm. On first set up and join WiFi. Do this in a socket in same room as your router. Makes WiFi set up and discovery much easier. Then you can unplug it and plug it into whatever room you want to use it. It will remember and work as you set it up. You can set times on off schedules on the app wherever they are plugged in. Even after you have moved them to place you will be using them. If, like me, you have more than one, I recommend writing the name with permanent pen on smart Plug, that correspondes with the name you give each plug in app! Or next year you will have forgotten, I did! Tbh though I found it easy to delete them individually from app. Then set them up as new. Easy to do. I have three now. So now they are marked on plugs to match what I named them on app! They work with alexa. And you dont need a separate hub.
