I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT . The pamphlet said that the blade is made from AUS-8 steel, a kind of 440C steel. It went on to describe care istructions for AUS-8 steel and that the blade is 57 Rockwell Hardness. No where did it mention ATS34 steel, even though the blade is tamped with ATS34.I E-mailed Woodstock International INC, the seller , for clarification. They E-mailed me back saying that they use the same pamphled for knives with different steel types. What?They reassured me that this knife is made from ATS34 steel.I also asked about the Rockwell Hardness (RC) for ATS34 blade. They E-mailed me a PDF which stated their specification:Both, AUS-8 and ATS34 have the same Rockwell Hardness of (57-61) +/- 1.Who knows what the hardness of the blade is, it coud be a soft 56 RC or super hard 62 RC and still be within their specification.Since their pamphled listed AUS-8 steel as 57 RC , at the lowest end of their specification, chances are that ATS34 blade is at the lowest endof their specification also.At it's widest point, the blade measures 1 and 3/16 inches. Cutting edge is 3 and 11/16, both measured by ruller.Blade thickness is 0.120, measured with caliper.The pamphlet does not list the maker or the country of manufacturing.
