I have no answer other than “cheaper” to make in China but this is indeed disappointing from a respected German brand. If you are making more than 3 1/2 cups, you will have spillage. It is impossible to pour a cup of coffee from this carafe if there is more than 4 cups in it. We make a FULL pot and for the first couple of cups it has to be poured over the sink.
