Review: Good quality strop for not a lot of money. - Definitely a nice strop for the price, and the handle means you can use it comfortably. The included polishing compound should go on the rough side while you're removing imperfections, and the smooth side should be used for finishing off your edge, but it's not too much to worry about if you're already looking into a strop as someone who knows what they're doing. The leather is good quality, although, when I got mine, I thought it was foam. It's leather. Standard strop size; perfect for it's purpose, and I'd probably buy it again.

Sharpening stones and other implements are important sure, but Mainly for a damaged and heavily dulled blade (IMO). Generally I can get away with just a quick strop to remove any burs and gently refine the edge. If I'm repairing an edge I find if I give it a couple quick passes on a 400->600-> gentle 1000 grit stone it leaves a nice edge but finishing it off with the strop removes burrs and refines the cutting edge.

Definitely a nice strop for the price, and the handle means you can use it comfortably. Strops are amazing. This one is pretty well made with one side being smooth and the other a rougher leather. Sharpening stones and other implements are important sure, but Mainly for a damaged and heavily dulled blade (IMO). Very nice, easy to use, and ambidextrous. Good way to get rid of burrs after sharpening or to reduce lightly rolled edges on an otherwise sharp knife. I use it in combination with a Lansky sharpening block and get great results on my kitchen and pocket knives.
