It has a beveled edge around it, so you don't even notice it's there when drinking. It doesn't move around once you've got it in place, doesn't interfere with the lid at all. There are no finicky parts here for mold to grow in, as it's just one piece, which appeals to me because I hate taking apart 20 pieces of a water bottle lid just to clean it properly. To get it out, I honestly just stick my finger in the hole and pull, maybe that's wrong, I'm not sure. I will say too, I can easily refill my water bottle from my brita without removing it. It feels very solid and well-made, plus, it's BPA free! I think it was true to color too, so color-matching to my bottle was easy.
