They're not too big or too small, the zipper pockets are wonderful. I'm really particular about my running shorts - and especially the pockets! These aren't the kind of pockets that sway too much with a cell phone inside. While I didn't carry my phone with me during my last marathon, I was able to pack the pockets full of fuel needed for the entire distance. The zippers make sure I don't lose anything.I've had these shorts through several loads of laundry, and they're holding up well. In my running clothes drawer, if I have a choice of all my shorts, I'll choose these. Definitely buying more.Edit: My original review is now eight months old. The original black pair I purchased is holding up very well. Since then I purchased a red pair later last year and now I just bought two navy blue shorts.
