## Description

desertcart.com Perhaps it's not surprising that an Italian company such as La Pavoni takes its espresso and cappuccino very seriously. The detailed manual and video that come with this professional-style machine spare no small detail while guiding you through the espresso and cappuccino process. With proper equipment, La Pavoni argues, including very fine grounds and a state-of-the art machine, an espresso or cappuccino can be a work of art. Because cafe prices are rising and an improperly made espresso is indistinguishable from mud, it's worth investing the time and equipment required for a rich and truly satisfying espresso experience. For me, one thing that separates a barista-style cappuccino from many homemade efforts is the quality of the foam. The Europiccola produces foam with just right amount of frothiness, although the foam can also be controlled if you prefer less enthusiastic frothing. For top-quality cappuccinos, the machine should be descaled four or five times a year (descaling instructions are included). Made of gleaming chrome, this strikingly attractive machine should not be cleaned with abrasives. --Laura CuthbertEditor's note: This item may arrive with water inside from the manufacturer's pressure test. This is a normal occurrence and doesn't point to a problem with the machine. Product Description The La Pavoni PC-16 Professional Espresso Machine blends timeless Italian design with expert-level performance, making it the ideal centerpiece for home baristas and espresso purists. This lever-operated model offers precise control over every step of the brewing process, giving you the ability to pull espresso shots that rival your favorite café. With its polished chrome finish and sleek black accents, the PC-16 is as much a statement piece as it is a precision tool. Inside, a solid 38-ounce nickel-plated brass boiler maintains steady brewing temperatures and minimizes limescale buildup, allowing you to brew up to 16 shots per fill. Using the manual lever system, you can brew 1 or 2 shots at a time-perfect for single servings or sharing. To ensure a rich, bold flavor and avoid dilution, the portafilter should be reloaded with fresh coffee grounds for each brewing cycle, whether you're making a single or double shot. Frothing milk is just as versatile. Use the traditional steam wand for hands-on milk texturing or opt for the Automatic Cappuccino Maker for easy, consistent foam. The integrated pressure gauge offers real-time brewing insights, helping you dial in each shot with precision. Built with food-safe stainless steel heating elements and handcrafted with attention to detail in Italy, the La Pavoni PC-16 is designed to deliver exceptional espresso for years to come. Note: Units may arrive with slight moisture or markings from the factory's quality assurance testing process-this is normal and ensures full functionality.

Review: Great espresso - I have now owned my La Pavoni PC-16 for a bit over two years. I researced this machine heavily before deciding to purchase it. I was well aware that it would take lots of practice and time to perfect. Getting the right grind was every bit as challenging as learning to operate the machine itself. However, once I did, I have not been disappointed. I was aware from previous reviews that this machine was more geared towards great espresso and not so much towards steaming the milk. And that is exactly what I have come to learn. I primarily drink espresso and that is why I prefer this machine. It is true that steaming the milk is very inconsistent. For the most part though I have been very satisfied. So far for me, the parts have held up relatively well. I do wish the machine were a bit heavier and not so prone to tipping over or forward. I have not noticed any rust issues. Everything seems to be in fine working order. The espresso continues to not disappoint. I have been exceptionally happy with my purchase and I feel that my research prior to purchasing paid off.
Review: Built like a tank! - I was an espresso machine technician in a previous decade (pre-2008 crash). I have more insight than most casual reviewers. Caution this machine is hot! In more ways than one! Seriously though be very careful once it's on. It works well straight out of the box, not too terribly difficult to use. With some skill and practice this has the capacity to make great espresso. Truly with a few cheap additional upgrades it's a good investment. It's also built like a tank, much more solidly built than the early post millennium machines. I personally appreciate some of the skill required, it's more than just pushing a convenient button. In my mind it makes the espresso just that little bit more satisfying when it turns out really well. With more skill, than happens more often. There are quite a few quick cheap upgrades you should do. - group head temperature sticker, or sensor. - single hole steam wand tip - naked portafilter with a better basket - a mirror to watch the show! My only complaint is many people now put a scale under their espresso cups and there's very very little room for that. I've had to put the cup under first, lift up, then put the scale under.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: can you tell me the time it takes to pull 2 shots, thinking of a coffee cart**
A: It doesn't take long to pull 2 shots--maybe 20 sec. The problem is it takes about 10 min to heat the water, and you can't add water without waiting for the unit to cool down enough to remove the cap on the reservoir. It would be a very poor choice for a coffee cart!

**Q: Thinking coffee cart for my 50 person company. They come in waves from 6-8. How long does it take to cool down before i can add more water?**
A: No he's not joking, while he is exaggerating a bit on the learning curve, a normal person can learn to use it in 10 minutes or so, forgetting to add water can break the machine, and you must wait the 10-15 minutes for it to cool down before refilling the machine.

**Q: Reveiwers have commented that the PC-8 would only produce a few shots before becoming too hot, is that also the case with the PC-16? I drink 4-6 shots first thing in the morning and need to know if this type of machine is the best fit.**
A: It also does....The 16 is larger, holds more water and subsequently a greater volume of steam. The heating elements are the same. TBH if you are drinking 4-6 doubles you will spend 25 minutes making those once you know what you are doing. The overheating issue is a novice persons issue, this is not a "put coffee in, get coffee out" machine, it requires a bit of learned skill to know when to turn the switch off to allow sufficient cooling as you make successive shots. So the "becoming too hot" is moot once you know what it is and why you avoid that issue. Avoiding shots made by too hot a machine soon become part of your technique to making good coffee. On another note, i found as my technique got better i required LESS coffee drunk per day as what i was making was by far some of the best coffee ive had and therefore didnt want to spoil the after taste by going overboard.

**Q: We have hard water issues. Can the machine descaled?**
A: Yes it can. Sesttle Coffee Gear has a "how to" video. I think they were using dezcale. I use distilled water in my machine, as I have in my other machines, with no problems & no scaling issues.

### ⭐ Disappointing Warranty Support
*by R***R on May 11, 2026*

Beautiful machine, but a very disappointing support experience. The machine started leaking within the first year of ownership. Amazon’s customer service was dismissive, avoided taking responsibility, and completely removed themselves from handling the issue. I was sent back and forth regarding the warranty, and it was extremely frustrating trying to get real assistance for such an expensive product. For a premium espresso machine at this price point, I expected much better reliability and customer support.
