Within the deep valley of the Rhine, ride alongside the wide river displaying towns, cities, castles and the spectacular Koln cathedral. Riding in several new trains, you will ride past the cities of Cologne, Bonn, Mainz, Koblenz, Wiesbaden and Frankfurt. ProTrain is a complete add-on package, with over 400 km (250 miles) of track to run on, several complete trains (locomotives, cabs, cars) and a new set of activities (scenarios and objectives). From one set of scenery available in this title, you get two sets of track, since there are separate rail lines on each bank of the river. You have a choice of three locomotives, the Series E-103 (in two different paint schemes), an older traditional passenger train and the ICE-3, a modern, high-speed train set capable of 330 km/h (205 mph). Only passenger trains are included with this title, but the route has numerous sidings and industrial tracks, so with the addition of appropriate locomotives and cars, freight operations would be quite possible. It is easy, search the web for installing on Windows 7. There are several very good FAQs and step by step guides, including the 1.4 official patch and MSTSBIN unofficial 1.8 patch, and other tweaks. My favorites are addons you can buy from European software groups that do the Swiss railways in the mountains. Gotthard, Bernina, Heide express, Glacier Express. This German route is great, worth it. Review: ProTrain - This was one of the first commercial addons for MSTS and I bought it news way back then. I loved this route from the start and still use it today. The scenery has held up okay over the years and there are pleanty of other routes out there there are better in that regard, however, this is still a great route. You get the feel of a real life in this sim that many other MSTS routes just don't have. And the length of run is fantastic. In addition to that with a little research you can build out real schedules, real trains and get a feel for the great DB system.
