Fit and works perfect on my 1997 Saturn SW2

I considered buying this on amazon but I ended it up getting it at my local auto store because I didn't want to drive the car with the fan not working.I installed this in my 1997 Saturn SW2 with 165,000 miles. I'm the original owner. The problem started a couple of days ago. I was idling and I saw the temp gauge go past 1/2. Normally, the fan comes a little before 1/2. I turned on the Air conditioning and fan. That always forces the fan to come on. Noting! Looked for blown fuses and none were blown. However, I installed a relay with a temp sensor about 4 years ago to turn the fan on because after replacing the head gasket the fan would not come on automatically. I suspected that wiring was the problem but turning on the AC should have made the fan come on because it is independent of that switch. I also notice the plastic around the fuse had melted (fuse was still good) and the wire coming out of the fuse had turned black from heat. The solution was to buy this fan motor and install it. I took 90 minutes. Compared to the original fan motor the metal ring was thinner and there a few minor differences but it fit perfect. Only problem - I had to remove the fan because I could not the power plug to go in even though I had applied dielectric grease to the contacts. I the two prongs had gotten bent and I had to straighten them. I plugged it in and lowered the fan assembly into place. As a test I used my car to help my neighbor deliver electric scooters for over 2 hours. The ran a lot as I waited with the motor running. No problems, no over heating.Tip: while I removed the fan assembly without disconnecting the radiator hoses. Before reinstalling it I removed the passenger side main hose. I makes it easier and you are less likely to damage the radiator fins.Tip2: I read online that someone said the fan shaft put a hole in their radiator because it stick out further then the original which sits flush with the fan blade so I use my bench grinder (with the nut installed) to shorten it to the original length. I don't think this is necessary as there is plenty of room in the final install - however if you modified your fan shroud or are using a racing or improper non-oem assembly then it might be necessary. Or on another brand of car since this appears to fit several different years and makes of GM cars including Chevy Cavalier, etc.Tip3: includes nuts and bolts + washer but I reused the original bolts & Nut/washer because they were in good condition and were of higher quality - never throw the original part or nuts /bolts away until you are sure the replacement part includes everything you need and you are finished with the install.

    Perfect fit

I have a 2004 Chevy Cavalier and (obviously) my fan motor broke. Instead of ordering the entire assembly I opted to purchase the replacement motor. My Cavalier could accept two different models and I opted for this model over model PM517 because this was 3 dollars cheaper. The broken motor was easily removed and this new motor fit in easily. The quality of the casing seems good and I feel that this is a great price for what most auto stores charge.
