The new (6.2) has a different design but seems to be the same good old boot. Has a slim appearance without looking like big goofy/clunky boots with slim uniform pants.Side Zip is super convenient so you can prelace em and just throw em on/off but still offers good ankle support. I have been very impressed with the Bates boots, so far. They are comfortable, easy to get on and off, and comfortable to wear all day, even in Houston, where it is often warm and humid. They are also good looking, with a slightly more slender profile than my previous tactical boots. Overall, I would rate them highly.
