Will this step stool hold my weight?** A: This stool is rated to safely hold 200 pounds, my husband is under 250 and was not comfortable using it; so I purchased another rated at 400+. We did not have any failures or breaks; just an uneasiness with the stability of the product. **Q: What is the size when it is folded up? I need to fit it into a specific space in the closet.** A: It folds up to be about 39" tall and about 4" deep. The width stays the same- about 16". I keep mine between the fridge and the wall. **Q: Does the top step get close enough to the wall that a toddler can reach a counter? And does the handle go back far enough that they can stand on top?** A: I'm inclined to say "Yes" on both counts. a)When butted up against a flat wall with a baseboard, the front edge of the top step is about 3.5 inches from the wall. When butted up against a kitchen cabinet (which typically will have a recessed foot-well), the front edge of the step is about 1 inch from the cabinet face. b)The handle extends into the top step space by about 3 inches, leaving lots of room to stand on the top step for either a toddler or adult and the unit is very stable, even with a 240 pound adult on the top step. BTW, the top step is about 17 inches off the floor, so any toddler taller than about 24 inches will easily be able to see and reach over most countertops (a mixed blessing). It is also probably light enough to be carried by many older or larger toddlers, although with some difficulty.
