Linear Algebra with Applications: . 9th Edition

Excellent for self study. I used this text to teach myself foundational linear algebra techniques for machine learning applications. It doesn’t touch on machine learning but it gives the essential mathematical foundation.

One of the new generation of textbooks that actually shows the student how to solve the math that is being presented. The world needs more textbook authors like this one!

It’s the required book for my class. There are a lot of practice problems, and a good index to find the answers for my specific questions.

I used this textbook for my linear algebra course in college, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The examples are bare bones with missing steps and a lack of in-depth explanation. This is the 9th edition, and there are still tons of typos and calculation errors throughout the text that even my professor found confusing. This would be a bad choice for self-study.
