The best is never cheap
Not cheap but holds a 6000lb 25’ Competition very well when set correctly. Will never go back to a steel anchor in salt water

Pricey anchor but the weight to holding ratio is amazing. Spend a little extra and go with aluminum!

Poor Packing From Factory / Finish Damaged.
I like this size Fortress for a lunch hook for my 30' boat due to its light weight and decent holding power. My low rating is a criticism of the damaged item I received and the poor packaging from the factory. As the attached photo shows there are three abrasion rings damaging the finish on the cross bar. This seems to have occurred at the Fortress factory prior to packaging. The packaging itself was abysmal, with metal bolts loose in the box and capable of damaging the finish, but the three concentric rings on the cross member do not appear to have been from this packaging problem any other packaging issue. It appears to have been packed this way from the factory. For the price of this anchor it was disappointing that it was shipped with this damage. The damage is minimal in one sense, but damage to the anodizing will cause premature corrosion in a salt water environment. Also takes some of the joy away from opening a new item and enjoying the moment when it is new and undamaged. The foregoing is not a commentary and the anchor's holding power or the seller, but simply disappointment with Fortress' quality control and packing.

Pain in the As- to assemble.

This Fortress was a replacement for one we lost when something in the anchorage cut through the rode about 10 feet up from the anchor! Fortress anchors are fantastic for the mud/sand bottoms we anchor in around here (Western end of Lake Erie). Thank you Fortress! Mike
