Studio Series S 81 Center Channel Speaker (Black)

I bought a complete surround system replacement for my aging and not so great Bose AM15 sat/sub system. I broke my wife's rule of "no furniture speakers". (She finally stopped complaining about how ugly they were." After years of "suffering" with the sonic "hole" problems of my old Bose system, I bought the Jamo Studio S system based upon a top review in "Sound and Vision" Magazine. I got the L/R 809 towers, the 801's for surrounds, the S 81 Center and the S8 Atmos speakers that mount on top of the 809 speakers for a nice clean look. Price was less than half of what I spent on the Bose system many years ago. Per the Sound and vision review, you need a Sub to really fill out the low end. I already had a 10" Sub, so this was not an issue for me. More than pleased with my new and full sounding 5.1.2 Atmos surround system. Also of note these speakers are made by Klipsch, a respected name in quality speakers.

Love this Jamo S 81 center speaker in my 5.1 surround system. Dialogue from television and movies is great, and for the money it’s pretty unbelievable. I’ve had bad center speakers in the past and was so happy when this one turned out to be so good. It also looks good and fit in my TV stand through the back. I’ve paired it with two Jamo S 803 bookshelf speakers, a Jamo slim 10 inch subwoofer, and a couple of KEF Q150 bookshelves up front. I can’t see how anyone would be disappointed with this speaker when used as a dedicated center speaker. It’s not a subwoofer, so don’t try and make it one, but the highs and mids are great and you won’t be sorry you bought it.

I didn't have a lot of choice because the S 83 would not fit in the space I had whereas the S 81 fit perfectly, so I had to use it. Sound is great, though can be a tad muffled at times. I did notice that after calibrating with Dirac Live, it seems this muffling has been reduced or maybe even eliminated. Looks fantastic though and that counts for a lot. I paid only $96, which I think is incredible value for this piece of gear.

Ended up returning the S-81 (had high hopes these would work as it was half the price of S-83), as it just wasn't powerful enough for use as a center speaker in my living rooms space (approx. 12" x 20") + the drivers on the S-81's didn't mach those of Jamo S809's that I was using for L/R. Although only marginally larger, The S-83 was vasty superior to the S-81 and for the $$ I'm happy with the sound which sounds full and balanced with my other speakers.

Picked up new for a staggering $48.00 / haven't replaced my current center channel yet, and its in pristine shape - no peeling of them vinyl wrap. How bad for the price could it be?

Se conectó a un Denon s770 junto con un par de bocinas Kef Q350. La primera impresión, sin haber hecho la corrección de volumen del propio receptor, es que el canal central jamo efectivamente, suena notoriamente menos que las Kef, como mencionan algunas reseñas. Estuve tentado a devolver la bocina. No obstante, tras haber hecho la corrida del programa de auto calibración del receptor, la bocina mágicamente se convirtió en la estrella del show, aportando diálogos muy bien definidos y de un excelente volumen, en armonía con el resto del conjunto. Considerando el precio y el prestigio de la marca jamo, estoy muy complacido con mi compra.

Muy satisfecho con el resultado. Ojo, no soy un audiofilo; soy un terrenal que le gusta escuchar música con la calidad que a mi parecer es muy buena.

Me gustó su diseño y buen desempeño

Físicamente es muy bonito, está bien construido y a nivel de audio se escucha nítido pero el volumen es muy bajo, necesito subirle mucho el volumen para que se escuche :(
